I was on a mission.  My army in Mossflower made up of squirrels and mice needed metal weapons.  We knew that the inhabitants of salamandastron knew how to make them better than any other beast in the world, so that is where I was headed.  The reason we needed these weapons is that the only weapons we could make were wooden.  I myself was experiencing some trouble with my weapons.  you see I had left my fortress four days ago and had allready been attacked thrice.  I was carrying a Massive Oaken Warhammer that when swung with force behind it could easily crush a vermins leg or arm.  The problems with this weapon was that it was extremely heavy and large and therefore not ideal for long trips across the country, and becouse I had to swing it over my head to get momentum, a quick fox or ferret could sometimes rush in and slash with a sword or dagger.  This problem resulted in many small injuries for me and many brutal deaths for vermin who suffered my wrath. now I was on my way again after dispanding a vermin tribe.
........ Two Days Later  ..........
At last!! I have reached the fire mountain of my ancestors.  I am greeted at the door by a hare by the name of Lord Tammello Tussuck.  I tell him of my quest and he informs me that any fellow vermin slayer is welcome to use his forge room to aid in the process.  I am led to the forge room by a pretty young hare called Hon Rosie.  When I arrived at the room in the heart of the mountain, I saw a badger probably three or four years my elder putting the finishing touches on a beautifull broadsword with a gold pommel and a leather wrapped handle with silver wire inlaid into the curves of the leather.  It also had a small but bright emerald inlaid into the but of the handle.  After I finished marvelling at this fine sword, I was informed by Irongrip, the badger from the forge room, that he had made it himself in that very room in only six days.  ( this means he must have started the very day that I left.) Irongrip agreed to give me lessons on how to use the forge so we began at once.  After a week of lessons from
the wood, I began to pound out a sheet of metal until it was as long as my handle and only a hal a centimeter thick.  This I then Wrapped around the wooden shaft and welded the ends together.  At this point I unearthed my axe head and heated the center as hot as possible.  Then, Using all my badger strength, I forced my handle through the center of the head.  This created a seamless juncture between the head and the handle making them inseperable.  After letting this cool again, I began creating the handgrip for my axe.  In the storeroom I found a large piece of thick brown leather.  This I cut into a thick strip and wrapped it around my handle, stopping approxamitely half way up the axe haft.  Then I searched the storeroom and came up with a piece of gold.  This I pounded until I had created a strip of twisted golden cord.  I wrapped this cord around the leather making it align with the seams of the twisted leather.  As I final touch, I formed a sphere of onyx and welded it onto the end of my handle.
An Account of How I Got My Weapons-Iceflash:
When I was young my father had gone questing because
that's what male badgers do when they're grown.  My
neighbors and such looked after me seeing as how I had
no mother.  When I was old enough and strong enough I
went into the woods and came back to my home with a
sturdy yew branch.  I took out my knife and carved and
shaved it down to the right size. when that was done I
combination, wet and smoked the wood until it was easily
bent.  The two ends were bent backwards and I carved
niches in them.  Then I strung it into a recurve bow and
set off again into the woods coming back with long thick
ash branches.  These I carved and fletched until they were
the size of small spears.  Being my size the fit perfectly with
my enormous bow.  Finding a small bag of lead my father
had used for cook ware and such I molded a piece of iron into the
shape of an arrow head and took a iron
spoon.  I used the spoon to melt the lead over a fire and then
began to poor the melted metal into the arrow casting.  When it was cooled I cut a
slit into each arrow and fastened the heads in with twine. With this I took one of my
two light blue stones my father had left me.  They matched the color of my headstripe
which is where I got my name.  I planted one stone in the bow in the middle and set of questing with the other in my haversack.  After a season of questing I found the mountain of Salamandastron.  Lord Tammo let me in and let use the forge room.  Taking a piece of metal I found in the back I heated it and began pounding it with all my might.  When it was long and flat I put a point and the top and fitted it into a hilt I had found lying around the forge room.  Knocking out the ruby in the pommel stone I put in my other icy rock.  I took a wetting stone and sharpened the blade.  Sewing a leather scabbard I put it on my back and inserted the sword.  I was now a full grown badger and the blade was so big four hared could not lift it.  My sword and my bow are my greatest works and I carry them where ever I go.

All of my life I had loved the staff and practiced with it every day untill I could knock out anybody
in my villige. One day a hare from Salamandastron and told wonderful stories about patrolling. After
hearing those stories, I was all charged up and wanted to go and join the long patrol. But my Dad
insisted I learn how to use a sword, but I refused.Soon we where yelling so loud my mother came
in and heard our story. She thought and said that we should compramise. We thought about it and
soon I thought up a glaive. A glaive is a staff with a  curved blade about a foot long.My dad agreed
and we went to the blacksmith's and asked for a foot long curved blade. When I got it, I fasend it on
to my staff and put a grip like sank on it and practiced with it for a year. It the end of that year I set
out to Salamandastron.

An account of my weapons
by Torgorch:  My dear ol' dad made me my prized longbow of mahogany wood and the best shafts.
When I set out to Salamandastron I found an old steel mine. This steel seemed to be the best quality
I had ever seen so I took a chunk and headed on my way. When I got to Salamandastron everybody
seemed to have a close range weapon but me. I asked Irongrip to make me a longsword out of the
hunk of steel I had found. Two days later I went to the forge to check his progess and he put a big
grin on his face and pulled it out. It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. The once dull hunk of
steel had been transformed into a double edged handsome looking blade. He had taken gold to make
the hilt, wrapped new black leather around it and set it with a ruby. At the time I did not seem worthy of such a thing. Now I carry my weapons with me on all my adventures with this great patrol!
Welcome to the Forge Room!  Here you can make weapons for food!  You must write what materials you used and how you went about constructing your weapon.  This will give you 5 food.  If you include a picture you will get 10 food!  Send your ideas to Tammo.
Return to Salamandastron.
