An account of how I got my sabre.
By Danno
When I first joined the long patrol I had no weapon outside of sling and a small dagger. Lord Tammo told me I needed to be properly armed and took me up the ancient badger forge room. I looked at the tables full of blades and spears and all kinds of perilous weapons. I took my time knowing what I chose could have to save my life someday. I came upon a saber with it's deadly curving blade and it's basket hilt. I picked it up and took a couple of swings, I put it back deciding to keep looking. When I was all done I went back to it and looked at it. Tammo told me that it looked out of shape and disappeared into the back room.  When he returned he handed me a saber in a scabbard, I drew the blade and instantly fell in love with it. Tammo told me it belonged to perilous hare who died defending the mountain.  Swinging it around I knew it was the weapon for me.
Crossbow—Bronto
I started with a normal bow and arrow. Then I found a piece of hard wood in the back of the Forge Room and began shaping it. I shaped one end to fit comfortable on my shoulder. The other end I cut a hole into it just big enough for the bow to fit in. I then put a trigger on it to hold the string and arrow in place. By pressing on the back of it, the trigger lifts up and releases the string and its deadly shaft.

I already had me scimitar when I started looking for a longe range weapon.  T'was an heirloom of the Stailatra clan, that I took with me when I left.  I'd heard the stories of Grath Longfletch, and admired her greatly, so I aspried to build myself a bow.  I first went out into Mossflower, to find strong yet supple saplings.  I discovered that birch when young works best, and its coloring was interesting...a sort of orange touched cherry wood.  I cut down a large one and brought it back to the forge, where I peeled off the hanging bark and began carving it until it was smooth and arching, just waiting for a string to be stretched taut across it.  For the string, I caught large fish from the sea, and cooked them on a rack, with a deep pan underneath to catch the drippings.  These I set aside to thicken for a few days, while I went back into Mossflower.  On the second trip, I collected vines and Moon Flowers.  The vines I shredded, then molded into the thick drippings, twining it round until I had a string.  When it was formed, but still unfirm, I crushed the Moon Flowers, letting their nectar permeate the bow tissue.  Finally, I burned in designs onto the wood, and set dye along them for color.  The quiver I made from the web of a spider in the far south regions of Mossflower.  Its web is very tough.  I melted this down, then built it around a thin base of common cloth, until I had the outside.  I then dyed it indigo and drew the designs on it.  The arrows I made from pine wood, fletching them with the plumage of a rare, blue Nightingale, which I found around its nest.  The arrowheads I beat from strong iron, straight from the great Salamandastron forges.

An account of how I got my Broadsword
Urthblade
I was dodging between the searats as they tried to stop me. I was on the shore of Salamandastron. With me were the searats from the Bloodchannel, who were attacking Lord Russano. They out-numbered him, his wife, and hares ten-to-one. I charged into the pile of rats swinging my small, but strong fists. I let out the battle cry that Lord Russano was yelling. “Eulialia!” I guess that hearing my war cry gave Lord Russano extra strength. Suddenly, searats went flying in the air as a hardwood stick gripped tightly in a monstrous paw shot up. He pulled himself from the rats and made his way over to me. He tossed me a broad sword still in its scadbarb. The moment after he did, the searats tackled him again. Whipping out the sword, I charged into the swarming searats. I stabbed, punched, and kicked. Soon there was less than a score of searats left—including Modhin the Slayer, Captain of the Bloodchannel. I was tackled from behind. Before the severely weakened Lord Russano could help, Modhin jumped on his back. He sank his sword into the Badger Lord’s unprotected back. I watched helplessly as my parents’ murderer killed another. I felt uncontrollable rage build up. I jumped free from the rat that held me. I picked up my new sword and attacked. I soon found myself standing in the middle of a slaughter. I completely ignored the searat carcasses as I made my way to Lord Russano. I wept when I saw his dead form. After a while, I decided to travel for some place far from this scene. I found my way to Redwall Abbey. After several seasons, I returned to the fire mountain. I was accepted as a member of the Long Patrol. I’ve stayed there ever since.

An account of how I made my Assassin's knife.
Ok, I went about to make meself an assassin's knife. It took me many a day to find the perfect metal, but then I found it. Mythril: not too heavy, not too light, it was perfect. Next, I found some leather then I started pounding the metal until it was 4 mm thick. Then I cut a nice cross tree like hilt to block off any dagger's blade. Then I engraved into it my special markings then round off the handle so it will fit my paw. Only then I took some weird plant and crushed it up; and then mixed boiling water into it. I stained my blade Black and then for the finale I wrapped leather around the handle

Redback
Along time I remember my grandpa saying something about Balista or something like that. He told about how the great Castle Kotir came down bye one those. So I said I gonna build one. One day at Salamandastron I went down into the Forge and grabbed all of the lumber I
could. Then I hauled it up to the ledge of the mountian. Sorry
Tammo, after all the hauling was done I had a young female
hare named Sunbreeze help start building it. It was all most
noon when I finished the luvly thing. To this day I hope it is
still up there.
Welcome to the Forge Room!  Here you can make weapons for food!  You must write what materials you used and how you went about constructing your weapon.  This will give you 5 food.  If you include a picture you will get 10 food!  Send your ideas to Tammo.
Return to Salamandastron.
