I had thought that the sword Lord Russano gave me would last forever. I was wrong . . . I had been
on a mission to find the beast that had poisoned one of our hares. I found the beast, but it wasn’t a
vermin. It was one of our own! During the battle, I fell on the flat of my broad sword. It snapped like
ice under your footpaw. After I captured the hare, I went to the Forge Room the make myself another
blade. I decided to keep the handle. I spent hours looking around in the Forge Room for the right kind
of metal. I wanted to make the blade of steel, but many beasts made their weapons of steel. It was
difficult to find any. When I had the right amount, I put it in the forge. After a few hours, I pulled it out and hammered it. I gave it a beaten blade so I would never have to sharpen it. I found a blue pommel stone
and attached it to the hilt. After the metal cooled, I walked out of the Forge Room with a beautiful, new
long sword.
How I made my Battle-axe.
By Orlando the axe
Actually the foundation was already there. An old battle-axe, twine rotting, metal tarnished caught my eye when I was in the armoury for the first time. I was about 4 seasons old and I hadn't a weapon yet, but I repaired it with the intention of just making it useable for a hare. I unwound the twine grip, took off the wormridden wood and placed the blade in the forge. I pumped the bellows till my arms were sore but still the thing wouldn't melt. It took half the day till it was soft. I must have made salamanadstron glow like a candle! Anyway, I took out the axehead and reworked it as only a badger knows how. I turned it over and over on itself and added some burnished steel to make the weapon harder. I took it out and hammered it on the anvil to give it a beaten edge. I hunted thought the timber at the back of the room till I came up with a long stout piece of hardwood to fit to it and spent the rest of the week shaping it to the cooled chunk of metal. I twined it with black sea-cord and set a spearblade to the top of the handle. I put a three-quarter blood channel in and caved badger runes into the handle.  The result was a weapon anybeast would be proud and it seamed made for my paw. I haven't let go of it since.
An account of how I got my weapons-Reddback
One day I entered the forge room and I said to my self well I am tired of getting into scrapes and almost getting killed because I only have a bow and arrows. So I walked you to the metal scrape and I snatched the longest piece of metal and I started hammering and hammering it was three hours before I stopped when I had stopped finally, I had a long double sided blade, that the edge on it was honed on, so it would never have to be sharpened. Then I stopped and let it cool for a while. Then I reached into my side bag and brought a old dirk that I had found on the beach. So I took it out and I started to clean it when I was finially finished, the blade looked brand new and it had a nice sharp edge on it. So I went back to my blade that was in the water it was very nice it was long and very sharp, but there was one problem it had no grip. So I went hunting through the pile of junk at the back of the room, I had found it. It was a long handle with a rose colored pomel stone and the
cross piece was long and very sturdy. I walked over to were the blade lay I look out a
long piece of leather, which I wrapped around the handle, then I began to put the blade
in, it fit perfectly, I had a nice long beauitful sword, but all it need was a scabberd. So
I walked aroung the mountian looking for a nice hard piece of leather for my sheath,
ha ha, I found it. It was very nice so I snatched it from that officers quaters and started
working on it immedilty, when I was finially finished it was long  sheath that had a
shoulder belt with a small opening at the bottom of the belt at the hip. I took my arrows
that was on a belt and sowed it on the belt for the scabberd. The I carefully put the
sword in it it looked beautiful. Now I was finally finshed.
  My Weapons
  By "Nate"
As a young hedgehog, I was often bullied by other animals who were faster or stronger than I. Weapons were often held in the hand, so swords were very popular with the other beasts. With my small size and  little strength, I had to choose amament that gave me an advantage. I started to practice throwing hatchets at trees to increase my accuracy. A projectile weapon like a bow or something you throw can be  used in close encounters or all out assaults to level the battlefield.  As my throwing strength increased, I decided to move to a larger, more  devastating choice, an axe. Because axes were not cheap, I mastered a  method of using sharp materials at hand strapped to a stick when my  iron axes were lodged in some evil beast. My war hammer was added to  my arsenal for close-combat. It was crafted with a lightweight yet strong iron, it cost me a bundle! Once the head of the hammer was crafted, I searched far and near for a wood that could be used for my  handle.  I  found an old forest of cedar trees on a trek to another kingdom. The trees were immense in size, and  dwarfed me. I felt that
I should at least try to cut down a tree, and I thought I was up to the task. It took 5 weeks of chopping and hacking to get the tree down,  and another 2 till I could get a suitable hunk to change into my handle. I was then able to swing the hammer to knock my enemies to senselessness. I quickly joined the Salamanstron clan and honed my skills on rebellious youth and cocky allies. As my strength and friendships in Salamandastron grew, news from home had come to slaughter all I had accomplished! My dear brother had died in battle from unknown causes, he died fighting though. He would have wanted you to have this... his WarSword! With his sword now in my arsenal, I continue to fight and search to find the killer of my blood to avenge his death.
                           How I made my Spear-Urthaxe
This is a double-bladed spear that I made. First I chose a large branch and
cut it into the right size and shape. Then I carved some designs on it and
hardened it over a fire. After that I found ores in the ground and melted
them using fire also. I put the liquids into blade molds. The finished blade
was extremely sharp and had jagged edges. I cut small slits in the pole and
wedged the blades in. Then I used copper to melt them in.
Harechap's Weapon: Before I came to Salamandastron I was head of the                                                            fletching/forging department at a weaponry shop.  Besides Salamandastron it was the                                          best place to get  a weapon.  It was there I built my longsword.  I had developed a                                               type of metal that I was sure would never rust or break.  I had been saving it for
a special customer but, I had decided to use it for my own weapon.  First, I got
some fine bronze and crafted the handle.  I crafted the handle to look like a                                                         wise, old, and bronze hare.  The hare on the handle had a saphire nose emrald
eyes and a mouth made from rubies.  I then used leather from a ferret's  back to
make the grip.  Finally,  I shaped the blade to look absoulutley  horrifying.  It is
still the most beautiful weapon I have ever set eyes on.
Welcome to the Forge Room!  Here you can make weapons for food!  You must write what materials you used and how you went about constructing your weapon.  This will give you 5 food.  If you include a picture you will get 10 food!  Send your ideas to Tammo.
Return to Salamandastron.
