E-Mail of the Week

I have received a few good e-mails since FireRollie.com came online. So now, I have decided to create the E-Mail of the Week contest. No prizes, just bragging rights. To enter, just send me and e-mail at almostfamous@firerollie.com and say that you're writing to be a part of the contest. It's that simple! E-mails may be edited for formatting purposes, though the content of the message will stay intact.

For the Week of January 27, 2002

I was wonder when somebody was going to come out of the woodwork and support Rollie, and here they are! Some person who went by the name GOCSU2546@aol.com dropped me a line and cc'ed it over to last week's E-Mail of the Week, LEJOIL6@aol.com. They weren't very happy with either of us. But when replying, I found that there is no GOCSU2546@aol.com. But the utter absurdity of the message earned it E-Mail of the Week honors...

I have recently looked at the Firerollie.com website. I must say it's pretty creative and interesting. However, it is even more humorous to see that you have no idea what you are talking about. Either of you. I have known coach Massimino for sometime.

He is a great man, respected by many people.Don't be so quick to fault him for the poor showing so far. You have no idea what is going on internally, so keep your opinions to yourself. The group of men that are on the court are young for the most part.

This isn't Duke or Arizona where when you have 4 freshman playing significant minutes you can still be a top team. It's funny how you waste your time writing articles and making comments that are false. It's a joke.

If you don't like the way the Vikings are playing, fine. Don't come to a game. Let me just give you a piece of advice. Rollie's a good coach, he's not the reason the team stinks. Take a look inside the athletic department and next time check your facts. Has Rollie really never went to post season play since 1985? Fucking dummy.

Sincerely,

a fan who know something about basketball and CSU unlike you.

Interesting analysis, but I guarantee you this, GOCSU2546@aol.com, wherever you may be. I know a lot more about the inner workings of CSU and the Athletic Dept. than you could possibly imagine. And nice f-bomb at the end.

Now, you would think that would be the end of the story, but you would be wrong. Since LEJOIL6@aol.com, she felt compelled to reply to GOCSU's antics, and here's how that conversation went in this E-Mail of the Week Bonus!

You might know Rollie personally but the word around campus is he is a jerk to work with. If you really want to know the truth about him in a working environment why don't you visit the campus and talk to coworkers individually. I attend classes at CSU and I know other athletes and everybody says the same thing. I have a better idea, ask his players. Even better Sonny Johnson.

Say what you want but he made the best move out of everybody on that team. By the way he is averaging about fifteen points a game off the bench. Very impressive! Unfortunately, the players can't tell you the truth while they are playing, however, normally when several people say something about someone there is a whole lot of truth to the story. He has run-ins with his coworkers, media, other coaches and anybody else who is in front of him.

As far as basketball is concern, the blame must go to the coach, that's the way it should be, that is why he is paid the big bucks, unless the coach is a coward and points fingers at other individuals for not getting his job done. Besides, just in case you are blind this is college basketball not the NBA. The old saying is the team reflects the coach, don't you believe that, don't answer, I already know you do. Well, the coach stinks and the team stinks just like him. I got news for you they are not a young team. He has two fifth year starters and three players from last year that played quality minutes.

How many teams in the country has two fifth year starters that are the best players on the team? Besides, its been SIX YEARS, SIX YEARS! What don't you understand? After carefully watching the Vikings ask yourself, why haven't one player gotten better, not one? I watch March Madness just like you do with my friends and more than ten to fifteen coaches got fire for making it to the NCAA and won twenty plus games last year. That's when you know the school is about business. I might be a female but it sure sounds like I know more about college hoops than you.

You are speaking from a personal stand point. I'm an outsider looking in very closely. In addition, why don't you call Rollie and ask him when is the last time he has been to the dance, isn't that what they call it. When you find out let all of us readers know. I said it once and I'll say it again, it's over. CSU has put all there resources into men's basketball, so don't blame the administration.

They may not be Duke or Arizona like you say but how much work does those teams has to do with quality players and tradition. I recently went to the Convocation Center on January 20th to see the high school sensation Mr. James and I couldn't help but notice how this kid packed the gym. He is in H. S. and he is the only reason people came downtown Cleveland and he was able to do something Rollie can't accomplish, put people in the stands, and win.

Just in case you don't know about sports, my boyfriend is a Rollie fan but he is starting to see the light. He says a new coach coming with a big name like Rollie will attract some interest in the beginning, but after SIX YEARS the thrill is gone! How much time will it take? Someone like you would like to see him for ten years. I got news for you that is a long time to wait for anybody. Besides, if CSU waits that long, the odds are in his favor to eventually win. Even someone like you can comprehend that, I hope.

OH, by the way, I don't need to stoop down to your level by cursing to make a point. Sike Ass Hole!

Strong words, albeit I disagree with the part about the administration. They are, after all, the ones who gave him the four-year extension.

And your boyfriend was a Rollie fan? Well, that's understandable. I am a big fan of 'Nova Rollie myself. But who wouldn't be?
