When Gatomon first appeared on the show, I wanted her to be the 8th child's Digimon, and I wanted Kari to be the 8th Child. Then both my wishes came true. Kari was the youngest girl with a cat for a Digimon. They were ment for each other.
Gatomon is stronger than the other Season 1 and 2 digidestined Digimon because she's able to stay at the champion level all the time while the other digidestined Digimon dedigivolved to rookie. She got to champion without ever encountering Kari, and the power of her tail ring saved the world. She held her own easily against the the combined force of Togomon, Ikkakumon, Greymon, Garurumon, and Kabutarimon in the episode "Gateway to Home." She was the only one brave enough to take them all on. Five chapions verses one and she did very well, completing her mission and even backing off Patamon. She's one tough intelligent kitty who has a heart of gold.
Kari is the only digidestened with the crest of light. Wow, the crest of light...its kind of hard for me to comprehend exactly what that means.

She's one tough kid who can take care of herself like Gatomon reminded TK when he was worried about her in "His Master's Voice." She has a lot in common with Ken, careful in what she says so no one's feelings get hurt. She's bright and understanding. She once even said of herself that she and Ken keep things inside making them vunerable to the Darkness, but as Yolei said, Kari's light is the strongest against the Darkness. As Gatomon said, Kari is the worst enemy of the Darkness. Izzy once said, "There must be something special about Kari..." and there is...the Crest of Light..."goodness,righteousness, and truth."
Between light and love, I don't know which is better. Kari is kind, loving, modest, knowledgable, and caring. She is the worst enemy of the darkness and everyone seems to care about her too.
I wonder if Kari's super strong light made Gatomon a super strong digimon despite the fact that they were separated.
