1-31-02 Added an Intec lighted game shield mod in the submissions section.
Also, big news for anyone interested in an internal lighting solution for the GBA: the group of people on the IGN GBA board who have been trying to find a suitable light guide have apparently found a manufacturer!
It's not a done deal yet though, they need anyone who's interested in purchasing one to post to the IGN thread so that they can insure that there will be enough potential buyers to fill the quota for the minimum amount of guides that the manufacturer will produce.
1-27-02 Posted a letter and response that a reader mailed to nintendo. *sarcasm* Their reply was no less than awe-inspiring. */sarcasm*
Also: Here's a link submitted by James at portablemonopoly.NET. He shows how to disassemble the GBA, and lists a source for the elusive tri-wing security bits.
1-23-02 Newly submitted modification that uses a madcatz light/magnifier and an Energizer folding LED light!
The author claims that the LEDs that are used in the energizer light are brighter than the radioshack 276-320!
I've yet to personally pick up and test one of these energizer lanterns, but as soon as I do, I'll post test results. This could be a source for the the next best LED to use in external lighting modifications for the GBA
1-20-02 Posted a review of the Wormlight Plus! (Thanks wzc89!)
Also, be sure to check out the newly revised Submissions page! The page has been broken into 2 sections ("Articles" section and "Tech" section). Every submitted article or tip/modification is located on it's own page now
I think this will make it a lot easier to navigate as opposed to the long run-on page that it was before. This should also help in the future for new readers to easily locate submitted articles and news stories since a lot of links that used to get pushed to the news archive will now get their own entry in the
Submissions section.
One last note: if you've ever submitted an article or tip and it's not in the new Submissions section, just mail me, and I'll take care of it(I had to sort through a TON of material so it's possible something got lost).
1-17-02 More voltage readings (Thanks Mark!) from a version 3 light shield have been added to the submitted info section of the light shield version guide.
This should be of special interest to Canadian readers since Mark's light shield was purchased in Canada and has a totally different revision number printed on the board. Be sure to check out the picture of his shield.
Also, I've added a link in the version guide (under the "Version 3" section) to an earlier story that shows an obvious way to tell if you have a version 3 shield without opening it (only applies to transparent colors).
1-16-02 I've addedd a convenient link to the light shield version guide under the "Tech Index" link section.
1-13-02 Posted a submitted walkthrough with pictures of a double LED glowguard modification. Yes, you read that right, a glowguard
1-11-02 A must read submitted article that questions whether or not nintendo is to blame for the lighting problem of the gameboy advance. Thanks Ansgar!
1-07-02 Added an article with pictures of a madcatz light & magnifier modification submitted by Jeff. Thanks for the submission!
1-04-02 The Shield version guide has been updated with more info on differentiating between versions 1 & 3. Thanks guys!
