Gay Baha'i

". . . the real problem is the dogma of infallibility . . ."

That was in a post in the Gay Baha'i guest book, inviting people to two discussion lists.

I'd like to invite gay Baha'is to join us on these lists: http://www.onelist.com/community/talisman9 and especially Zuhur19, which is a private list for liberals only where we can discuss all the issues openly: http://www.egroups.com/group/Zuhur19. The problem of the acceptance of gays in the Baha'i Faith is essentially a theological one: the real problem is the dogma of infallibility as it is currently interpreted by the administration. This dogma has become a barrier to change and evolution, but it can be dissolved if enough Baha'is understand the need. Come and join us. You will be welcome!

When other people's interests and ideas seem contrary to mine, I feel a responsibility to try to see things their way, and see the good in what they do. For example, I've tried to embrace the views of white supremacists, and see the good in what they do. Likewise with gay rights lobbyists and anti-gay lobbyists. The more I feel alienated from people, the more I try to feel closer to them.

Here was someone saying that the whole problem with the Faith is the dogma of infallibility, and calling for a popular uprising to change it.

NOTE: That's what that post in the Gay Baha'i guest book looked like to me. That is not what I actually saw on the Talisman list. See Spirit of the movement.

There could hardly be anything more alien to me, and contrary to my interests and ideas than that! The infallibility of the central figures and the House of Justice was one of my most cherished convictions, and a popular uprising for any purpose at all, under any circumstances, is unthinkable in my understanding of Baha'u'llah's purposes and prescriptions.

I decided to try to embrace this movement. but I proceeded cautiously.
