This Is To Announce ThatOn the nineteenth of JulyIn the year nineteen hundred ninety-sevenJENNIFER NATASHA ANN GARBETTandROBERT ALLAN SWEITZERWere joined in marriageAt Benton Street Baptist ChurchKitchener, Ontario, Canada
The wedding took place at three o’clock in the afternoon, on a very beautiful day - it was both warm and sunny. There were about seventy friends and family members in attendance for this lovely ceremony. After the bridesmaids casually walked up the aisle, all in full-length, lilac-coloured dresses, they looked on as Jennifer was given away by her grandfather, Albert Edward Marsh III. Her father, Douglas Garbett, took the photographs during the wedding, as well as afterwards. The receiving line took place in the church foyer immediately following the wedding ceremony, then the wedding party and immediate family went to Victoria Park to have their photos taken by Jennifer's father. The bride and groom even accepted a ride in the gondola on Victoria Pond. The gondoleer didn't sing, but it was a nice ride anyway. The reception was held at seven o’ clock in the evening at Arpo’s restaurant and bar. Many people brought appetizers and desserts, and no one could have possibly left hungry (especially after that marvelous raspberry trifle made by James Erb, a friend of the bride). The deejay at the reception was Alex Grieve, a friend of the groom. (The bar had their own deejay, but they decided against using him, after the Stag & Doe.) Alex did a fabulous job, and many people had a great time on the dance floor - there was even a spontaneous game of "keep-up" with a balloon that wandered into the spotlight. The first dance of the bride and groom was to the song “I’m Still in
Love With You,” by New Edition. The first dance of the bride with her father
(who, by the way, is a great dancer) was to the song “Save the Last Dance
For Me,” by the Drifters.
