– Written by Veronica, 1 March 1999. We have been working hard on tying up the arrangements for our wedding later this year. We have most things booked and planned. Our wedding is going to take place on Saturday 30 October 1999. We are having a civil ceremony followed by a lunch and reception in the city where we live - St. Albans. The venue is called The Water End Barn and is an old barn (circa 1600s) which was moved from a village nearby and was restored on its present site. It is brick outside and has tall ceilings with wooden beams inside. We went to see the manager two weeks ago and went over the plans again - we have already agreed on the layout for lunch, the menu, etc. We have provisionally set it out like this: 14:00 ceremony
We are only planning on inviting family and a couple of very close friends to the ceremony and the lunch. In the evening, we are inviting everyone we know! We have hired a cabaret band (The Cavern Beatles), who look and sound like the Beatles to play at our reception - as well as having a DJ. We are planning to dance our first dance to a Jive (we have been having lessons together). We haven't chosen the DJ yet but we have been given a few recommendations. I recently picked up my dress and had a look at my hat, which I chose in place of a traditional veil. Can't say anything else - top secret! So my outfit as such is there. I am in need of something old - if anyone has any suggestions, let me knoow. Heath hasn't decided what he is going to wear yet but there is lots of time for that. Heath has asked John, his best friend, to be the best man and I have asked my best friend Kevin, to be my best man (he wouldn't wear a dress). Let’s face it, it wouldn't be like me not to do something differently! We have been hunting around for our rings and have decided on what we would like - but not many of the jewellers seem to have anything quite like it. I found one locally last Saturday that had a bit of a selection and we have asked them to quote for what we want. Fingers crossed on that one. I have started approaching the printers to get some ideas for our invitations, although they don't need to go out until late summer. My flowers are being done my friend Sam's Mom - who is a very talented florist. The flowers for the reception are being done by the Water End Barn (which saves a bit of work there). We haven't arranged a honeymoon as we are hoping to have some visitors from abroad and would like to be around to spend some time with them. We are thinking of going away for a few days though. Once everything settles back down again we hope to be able to go on a really nice holiday somewhere special as a late honeymoon. We have been thinking of Japan, New Zealand or a train through India. Lots of ideas! More later....
