Equipment & Resources

Rainbow Guides are the youngest members of Girlguiding UK. They are usually aged between five and seven and some Rainbow Guides like to stay until they are a little bit older.

The only exception to this is in Ulster, where girls can join as young as four years old.

Any girl over the age of five (or four in Ulster) can become a Rainbow Guide as long as she is able to understand, and wants to make, the Rainbow Guide Promise.

What do Rainbow Guides do?

Rainbow Guides have fun! They take part in all sorts of activities in and out of doors - exploring, sharing and discovering. They have their own adventures and also learn to be kind and helpful to others.

Rainbows play games, paint, draw and make things. They enjoy listening to stories and singing songs. At each meeting there is time for them to share their news with others.

Many of the activities aim to develop each girl at a pace which suits her and are based on the Eight Point Programme.

The Rainbow Guide Promise

I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.

Uniform

Rainbows wear a sleeveless tabard over their usual play clothes. All the girls in the unit wear the same colour tabard. Pink Raibow friends T-shirts are also available as optional extras.
