Project Description

Godfrey's Children (originally called Everyone's Child) was formed in 1998 as a project to assist children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Tanzania. The organization is now called Godfrey's Children after the original founder, the late Dr. Godfrey Msemwa of Tanzania.

It is hoped that through our partnering organizations that the activities of the organization will expand to other parts of the country and the continent.

Godfrey's Children is an official project under the International Federation of Medical Students Association as of August 2000. The project is represented in IFMSA by the Tanzania Medical Students' Association (TAMSA) through the TAMSA President and organizing body. Other organizations in collaboration include:

  • Save Africa From AIDS (SAFA) Campaign - An organization within the Africana Studies Department, University of Albany in New York assisting in Godfrey's Children's education program.
  • Africa Bridge - A non-profit organization in the United States. Africa Bridge and Godfrey's Children will conduct an AIDS forum in Mbeya in November 2002.
  • People to People - An Ethiopian AIDS organization
  • Foundation for Sustainable Development - A non-profit organization providing internship opportunities with Godfrey's Children in Tanzania.
  • Grandview Heights Elementary School- A school in British Columbia, Canada who are involved in our Pen Pal program. Children learn about Tanzania in the classroom and exchange art and supplies with children in Idweli, Tanzania.
