Questions to ask yourself about filing a lawsuit
Are You prepared?

Find help. A lawsuit is one of the most stressful situations you can put yourself through. Your are subjected to immense pressures and stresses for a prolonged period of your life. It is crucial to take care of yourself during this time. The stress levels can and will effect aspects of yourself you never imagined possible. A prolonged legal battle can take a tremendous toll on the human body and mind.

Get help from professionals in the health industry. You need to have someone you can trust to talk things out with. A good psychologist is valuable to find. Not only can a good doctor help you deal with the stresses associated with a legal battle, they can also help you with past, present, and future problems that can stem from a lawsuit.

More and more, mental health care professionals are being used to prove character, credibility, and the extent of emotional distress of plaintiffs at legal hearings and trials. To much the same extent you need to be as careful in choosing a doctor as you do an attorney. You need to find a doctor whom you can totally trust and depend upon. Sad to say many doctors are just there to collect a payment. You need a doctor you really feel is helping you cope and deal with things.

Beware however, anything you tell or that is written down by your doctor can be subpoenaed and used against you. In legal battles doctors are paid as professional witnesses for or against you. Is the doctor you chose of such integrity he can't be bought off? It could happen.

While a good Psychologist is important, you need someone for your body as well. Find a good M.D. that you can trust to monitor the effects on your body a legal battle can bring. All the same applies to your M.D as your Psychologist. There is no confidentiality in civil action between doctors and patient. All records are subject to discovery as well as your doctor's testimony
