Skyline: A hot air balloon passes over the skyline.

Plot: The Frasier Crane Show has been on the air for 3 years!!! And to celebrate Frasier and Roz exchange gifts - he gives her earrings and she gives him a tape of their first show, set a few months before the first episode of Frasier. That night, Frasier listens to the tape and remembers the events of that first day…..

It's May 21st 1993, and Dr Frasier Crane is starting his new job at KACL 780AM. He meets up with his new producer Roz Doyle, who would rather do a gardening programme. Frasier's old producer Dave has quit before the first show goes out!!! The first show doesn't go too well and afterwards Roz gives Frasier a list of 25 ways to improve the show. Frasier decides to get a catchphrase - amongst those he tries are "You're on the couch" and "If you can feel it, I can heel it".

At Café Nervosa, Frasier sees Niles, whom he hasn't seen for 2 years. Niles eventually takes him to visit Martin, saying that Martin is overjoyed Frasier is back in Seattle and that Martin has been a completely different person ever since he got shot 2 years ago. Of course the truth is different - Martin is the same as he ever was, and once Niles has gone Frasier and Martin try to find some common ground. They have a big argument, but eventually manage to have a civilised conversation.

When his daydream ends, Frasier feels pleased as to how much his relationship with Martin has improved since then. He tells Daphne, who is deciding whether to go home to Manchester or to Acapulco, that family matters and she should go home to spend time with them - then go to Acapulco to recover.

Subtitles: May 21st 1993 1.57PM; May 21st 1993 5.13PM.

It's Maris!!!: Back in 1993, Niles thinks that he and Maris have mated for life - "just like the Arctic puffin.".

Trivia: This is the final episode written by Linda Morris and Vic Rauseo. This is the first episode set mostly in the past, with some flashbacks that aren't clips from old shows, but played out by the present day cast. This explains why for some reason, 1993 Frasier looks like 1996 Kelsey Grammer (with shorter hair) rather than 1993 Kelsey Grammer (with longer hair) as he should do! :-) Recognise the English woman in Café Nervosa who asks for the sugar? It’s a certain Miss Moon….. And the name John Rajeski (the actor who plays the waiter) turns up again in "Liar, Liar", where it is the name of Frasier's old school bully. There's also a mention of Mr Moon.
