136 "Dinner Party"

Written by: Jeffrey Richman

Directed by: David Lee

Regular Cast: Frasier, Niles, Martin, Daphne and Roz

Guest Cast: None this episode.

Guest Callers: Alison Walpert (Susanne Blakeslee), Harry Walpert (James Cunnigham).

Skyline: A blimp flies over the skyline.

Plot: Frasier and Niles decide to have a dinner party. They invite the couple of the moment, the Ashbys, and arrange for the party to be on the 19th. This means Martin will have to move his poker game and reluctantly, he does so.

To get the Ashbys to come to the party, the Cranes have to invite the "drunken Duncans" (the Duncans know the conductor of the Buenos Aires philharmonic) and the Walperts. The two end up with no chef after a cellphone mix-up, and then the Walperts phone to confirm their attendance. However it seems Alison Walpert didn't hang up properly because she says something about the Crane brothers always being together.

To make matters worse, the Ashbys cancel and it turns out that the Duncans don't know the conductor of the Buenos Aires philharmonic. Their foster child has the same name. This dinner party looks like its going downhill fast.....

Meanwhile Daphne and Roz are going to a dinner at the British Consulate, but Daphne can't decide what to wear.

Subtitles: Dinner Party.

Martin knows..... Mel, one of his poker buddies, and Jimmy, another poker buddy, who postponed his daughter's wedding so that he could attend the traditional poker night.

Trivia: Mention of Alice - she puked on Daphne's dress and Roz dry cleaned it for her. This episode is a "real time" episode like Ep 24 "My Coffee With Niles" - in other words the whole episode takes place in 22 minutes and is continuous all the way through. The Walperts aren't really guest callers, but they only "appear" via the answering machine so I put them in that category. They weren't credited on screen either, I only found out who voiced them in the 2nd Frasier scripts book.
