Skyline: Party balloons float up from behind the skyscrapers.Plot: Martin has told Ronee that Frasier screams like a girl - and proves it by making Frasier jump by creeping up behind him. Frasier is not amused, and heads off to his office where he is treating a patient, Mimi. Mimi has a phobia of clowns and this has nearly cost her her job at the hospital, where she got frightened whenever a clown came to visit the sick children. Frasier decides to help cure her by dressing up as a clown to show her she has nothing to eb scared of. Back home, Martin scares Frasier again, so Frasier decides to get his revenge. He pretends to go out, leaving Martin to think he is home alone, and sneaks off to put on his clown outfit. He rings the doorbell and hides in the powder room. Martin comes to answer the door, Frasier scares him - and Martin has a heart attack! Luckily Martin is fine, and he comes home from the hospital the next day. Ronee is due to come back from Spokane, where she is visiting her mother, and Martin insists she is not to know about his heart attack in case she thinks he is an old man and starts mollycoddling him like Frasier and Niles have been doing. When Ronee arrives, Martin tells her that a "Get Well Soon" basket of flowers are for Frasier, who has some "man problems"! Martin decides he has to tell Ronee, but after all the build up she says she was expecting something bigger such as "I'm breaking up with you" or "I want to marry you". They have an argument and Martin says he is not breaking up with her, and if he were proposing he would do it somewhere more romantic. He then wonders what she would have said if he'd proposed. Ronee says she would have accepted, and the two look confused for a second before realising Martin has just proposed and they are now engaged! Subtitles: Send In The Clown; De-Fibbing. Where Everybody Knows Your Name: Although this is not referenced in this episode, Frasier also dressed up as a clown in the Cheers episode "Send In The Crane". It turned out that by pulling out a handkerchief in the suit, the trousers fell down, and unfortunately Frasier had gone commando that day..... Trivia: A mention of Alice - Roz wore the clown make-up for her birthday party, and it took ages to get off. The SeaBees also get a mention. Daphne's only appearance in this episode is in the tag scene played over the credits, this episode was filmed when Jane Leeves was on maternity leave. Stephanie Faracy also played a character called Mimi in Ep 101 "Voyage of The Damned", although that Mimi was Mimi Cosgrove, a Country Club regular, and this Mimi works as a nurse, so I don't think they are the same character. Jeffrey Richman wrote both episodes by the way. There's a mention of Betty Lawrence, Ronee's mother, whom we meet a few episodes later. Oh, and Martin is the second member of the Crane family to have heart problems - the first of course being Niles back in Season 10. |
