Skyline: A rain-cloud passes over the city.

Plot: Frasier is in a panic as Niles arrives at the apartment. He's committed a crime! Frasier tells Niles the story of what he did and why he did it.

It all started that afternoon at KACL when Frasier took a call from Babette, who has kleptomania. This means she likes stealing and gets a high from it. Frasier has a cough and can't speak, so Roz gives Babette advice. Afterwards Frasier congratulates Roz on her good advice, but Roz said after 10 years of the same problems she knows what to say. Frasier realises his life hasn't changed much over the years. This is reinforced when Martin and Ronee look at some old pictures and Ronee says Frasier hasn't changed a bit. Frasier's neighbour, Opal Magrini, also says Frasier is like an old shoe. She asks Frasier over to help her change a lightbulb, and Frasier spots an old medal of Opal's. After hearing that even Opal, 83, has a date that evening - and he hasn't - Frasier snaps and thinking back to Babette's problem, he steals the medal!

Now Frasier feels guilty and wants Niles to help him put it back. Luckily Frasier has Opal's spare key, which she gave him just in case, and they sneak into the apartment - but suddenly Opal's family arrive ready for her surprise birthday party! Frasier and Niles have to join the party, and hear that Opal won her medal at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin! There is due to be a photo of Opal with her medal, so whilst Frasier distracts the guests, Niles has to put the medal back before the photo is taken.....

Subtitles: How To Deal With A Dim Bulb; Oedipal Undies.

It's Maris!: Ronee looks at old photo from 1994 of Niles, and says he must be drunk because he has his arms around a floorlamp. But no, says Niles - it's just Maris in her Easter hat!

Trivia: The first half of this episode, where Frasier tells Niles the story, has lots of flashbacks and different versions of said flashbacks where Niles and Frasier have different views over what happened! Estelle Parsons also voiced the caller "Celeste's Mother" in Ep 252 "Frasier-Lite". Bernadette Birkett, who plays Opal's niece Janelle, is well known in the Cheers/Frasier universe for another role. She is the wife of George Wendt, who played Norm Peterson, and she voiced Norm's wife Vera a few times. She also appeared as another character, Tinker Bell, in the Cheers episode "Fairy Tales Can Come True", which first aired in 1984. Oh, and we say goodbye to the Guest Callers with this episode - Babette, voiced by Helen Mirren, has the honour of being the very last one.
