Skyline: A blimp flies over the skyline.Plot: Frasier gets off the elevator on the wrong floor one morning whilst heading for his office and meets a woman named Charlotte. She runs a matchmaking service and after seeing Frasier embarrass himself with an old flame named Ellie, whom he can't remember, she convinces him to join her matchmaking business, Charlotte's Web. Soon Charlotte has set Frasier up with 5 different women, but all 5 dates are a disaster. Whilst on his way to a 6th date, Frasier decides that if this one is a dud, he will ask Charlotte for his $10,000 fee back. Charlotte arrives at the restaurant to say Frasier's date has cancelled, and whilst there Frasier discovers that he is the only male client out of Charlotte's 6 clients in total! He confronts her and she confesses that she has only just started the business, but back in Chicago she ran the best matchmaking service in the city - before she lost it to her ex-husband. She's in debt and has to live with her mother. Frasier buys her dinner to make up for her bad day, and finds out she has a boyfriend, Frank. Later that night, Frasier finds he can't think because he is thinking of Charlotte.... Meanwhile Niles and Daphne decide to hire a doula after friends of theirs, Brad and Cindy, hire one. Harvest, the doula, decides that Daphne shall have a natural birth, but after hearing from Roz about childbirth, and watching a video of Cindy giving birth, Daphne decides to go to the hospital and get as many drugs as she can! And Niles takes his "sympathetic pregnancy" a bit too far..... Subtitles: Match Game; Dating Game. Trivia: And so we say hello to Charlotte, who will play a key role in the last few episodes. Laura Linney also voiced the caller Mindy in Ep 227 "Kenny On The Couch". This episode was originally supposed to be a stand alone episode, but the producers liked the chemistry between Kelsey Grammer and Laura Linney so decided to bring her back for the last few episodes - this is why this episode was pushed back so much. It was supposed to air in February, then early March, and finally aired in late March in the States! There's a slight indirect mention of Ronee when Frasier tells Charlotte that his father is engaged, and Roz remembers when she gave birth to Alice in Ep 117 "The Life Of The Party". Oh, and Frasier makes another reference to his Coco Chanel couch. |
