  • Mangosteens are grown in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Vancouver, British Columbia, Central Africa, and Hawaii.
  • Mangosteens are in season different months of the year, depending on where they are being grown. At low altitudes in Ceylon, the fruit ripens from May to July; at higher elevations, in July and August or August and September. In India, mangosteens are in season twice in one year- July thru October and April thru June.
  • Ripeness in mangosteens is determined by the full development of their color and slight softening.
