Gram-Mangal is a registered voluntary Organization in Maharashtra, India. It was established in 1982, by the eminent educationist and social worker, late "Padmashree" Anutai Wagh, and Prof. Ramesh Panse. When these two activists, along with a few other volunteers, entered the tribal area near Maharashtra-Gujarat border, the village of Aine-Dabhon was in dire straits. Let alone the "luxuries" like electricity and basic education, there was no drinking water available! The two activists started thinking about how to gradually transform the village into a self-reliant community. Ever since its inception, therefore, Gram-Mangal has been involved with various development activities, summarized under the "Other Activities" link above. Later, Gram-Mangal started focusing on Education, and now its principal thrust is on Early Childhood Education.

Here's a little more about Gram-Mangal as an organization

  • Gram Mangal's annual budget is funded by membership fees, foster-parent schemes and private and institutional donations. No government grants are obtained
    >> WHY NOT?
  • Gram Mangal's accounts are audited every year, and are submitted to the charity commissioner and the income tax authorities.
  • Gram Mangal has obtained:
    • A certificate under the income tax act section 80 G, for private and institutional donations, and
    • A permanent certificate for receiving FOREIGN FUNDS under the foreign contributions regulation act (FCRA).
