Others watching wonder "Wow, how did they do that? That's incredible." They then radiate this positive air that inspires the previously uninspired. The watchers are now slighty more productive. However, if one were to measure their productivity one would see that the inspirer has exuded more effort than the inspired. The question now would be can this inspiration grow and develop in the inspired. In most instances it doesn't. In some it does. This inspiration produces a productive individual which usually replaces a portion of the inspirer. Unless the individual inspires others he or she will never be able to match the productivity of the inspirer. Back to the original inspirer. If he or she inspires two individuals who a) become productive and b) inspire others then the original inspirer has achieved something great. This is how to define an awesome person. Sunday, August 21, 2005 10:30 AM: As you can tell i didn't get to finish my last post or update it. So that's what i'll do now! Things that have been going on lately:
So that's the majority of what I've been up to. Congratulations to my excellent friend Liza Garcia who's now Liza Garcia Vasquez. She might have dropped the Garcia but I'm not sure. Also Congratulations to Martin Vergara! His punk ass graduated from Texas Tech. Saweet! And lastly to Justin Howard who just recently proposed to his lovely lady Kristin! Woot I think. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 10:28 AM: The day before I go back to school is always semi-exciting. I always look forward to a fresh start. But I have a hint of controlled ADD. Even though it's controlled it still isn't good. Things that have been going on lately. Tuesday, August 9, 2005 2:01 PM: Whoa, it's been a while. I've been on a reading rampage! But you don't have to take my word for it... or maybe you do. Any I'll update a little more a little later. I'm actually off to the library! Meditate on this and then act!
Sunday, July 17, 2005 3:08 PM: I have finished yet another book! Woot! I bought this! Double Woot! Last night I went to go see Lysistrata to support my co-worker Lupe Flores. It was quite an enjoyable play about Women refusing to give their men sex in order to stop a war. After that, Ms Sonia and I went to McDonalds for some grub. I decided to try the Phily Cheese Steak Sandwich. The sandwich was extremely mediocre. It tasted exactly like a fastfood sandwich. Perhaps I'll have better luck with another one of there sandwiches or Deli Selects. Certainly not any time soon! I'm craving Rosario's mexican food. They have good stuff. So after little food was placed in our Bellies we met up with some good ol' friends Martin and Leanna. We had a nice time at Pat O'brien's. We enjoyed a few drinks at the piano bar. Wonder where I got my ScreenName? Check it! Until later, Mista Discombobulator! Thursday, July 7, 2005 5:14 PM:
How has everyone been this week? I hope productive. I've been pretty productive this week. I blew through a book, mailed out some things I sold on eBay, worked on secret agenda items, started and nearly completed another book, refrained from over spending, and today I cleaned my room. more to come later. I have to take my work clothes out of the drier. peas in and out! Sunday, July 3, 2005 11:50 AM: ...And things become clearer. Why? Is it because there hasn't been any rain and thus has increased visibility? No. Is it because the dishes have been washed and now the glass is squeeky clean? No. Is it because you got these new SuperVision goggles for FREE and can now see things previously unseen. Partly. Is it because you are taking advantage of your neural transportation system and in effect improving your bus speed from 32bit to 64bit? Maybe not in bits but yes, partly. Well wasn't everything cluttered on your highways and whatnot? Yes. How did you clean it up. Antioxidants. They're great volunteers. Picked up a new book! Ha, I've got so many books on the subway system. But this one's different. This book reads easily. Neat! Pursuing a new diet. Not to lose weight, though. Got my killers tickets! Woot! Wednesday, June 29, 2005 10:53 AM: So yeah... What's up? I'm sitting here thinking. I have my computer in front of me, my 61 key Yamaha Motif (keyboard w/ a gagillion functions) to my right, University Inc. on my right at the end of my desk, a Korg Electribe ES-1 Drum Machine/Sampler to my left, The Complete Reference: Fireworks MX (image editing program) to my left, Flash MX (web video/cartoon making program) to my left, a Korg Triton Le (also keyboard w/ a gagillion functions) to my back left side, and my Hohner acoustic/electric guitar and a gagillion books to my back right side. The point is is that I have all these things which I could be extremely productive with. However, I mainly noodle on my keyboards, fiddle around on my guitar, start reading the first 50 pages of any given book, and play SimCity4 on my computer. I'm tired of this unproductive crap. I need to produce. Anyway, enough of my bitching about nothing. I just got Microsoft Office 2003 so now I can do homework stuff from my home computer. I have a Jazz performace tonite! Are you coming? Check out the previous post for the time and location. Oh yes, and the Spurs are Champions! WOot! -me Thursday, June 23, 2005 0:40 AM: Yeah, so this woman who won my arm's reach crib didn't pay for it! And hasn't responded to my emails. Arg! Now I have to go through this lengthy process to get my money back for listing it. Friggin' non paying bidder. Oh well. I'm trying to learn FireworksMX so i can bring you a more entertaining site. I have a nice fat book that's supposed to tell me how to do everything. I'm currently reading the screwtape letters (can't seem to finish it!) and University Inc. The first is about a devil writing to his nephew pointing out the flaws of christianity. And the later is about corporate corruption in the universities and colleges. Interesting? Maybe Maybe Not. I've been playing a lot of racquetball and my is it entertaining. Our jazz group is having a performance at OLLU and it's free and open to the public. It will be June 29th @ 7:30 in Thiry Auditorium. Come one, Come all! Bed time is now time! Sunday, June 5, 2005 10:46 AM: Well, I'm updating my page! Aren't you excited? Ha! Ebay: So yeah, I'm posting some stuff on ebay... And guess what!?!?! See the mbox right below this post... yeaaah. It's posted. Here are the following links: MBOX and NEW ARMS REACH MINI CO-SLEEPER BASSINET NEW!! NATURAL. Why am I posting my birthday gift already? Several reasons: first, my computer's not evolved enough to handle the potential of the mbox; second, the software interface for protools is amazingly complicated (this means the designers weren't thinking about the end user and if they weren't think about me they're stupid and they suck); thirdly I have little time for people who suck; Lastly there was some latency problem with the hardware which i didn't expect. So I'm posting the son of a gun... shit i think george bush uses that phrase. Getting out of the US: I was just checking some airfare for trips to Europe and I came across a study abroad page. So guess what I wanna do now! That's right Study abroad! But I don't want to go any trendy place like Spain or France. I'd like to go to some post russian country or hang out with the asian fellows in the East. The only trendy place I might like to go is the UK. That's because I really like their accents and I have a better chance of meeting Mr Thom Yorke. So expect this thought to develop later on. Brainstorming and Optimism Stew: Yum. Now that the summer's out I have some many things I want to do it's not even funny, nor crazy... it's a stew. That's right. A stew. My thoughts have developed a few main issues and my ability to chase these thoughts and actually start planning them out and taking action has been incredibly positive! The only bad, well it's not really bad, about having thoughts is that they make babies and have other thoughts and so on and so on. Soon you have a crazy house full of children - sometimes other people's children - that it gets out of hand. Anyway, the main plans I have and are actively working on are as follows:
Those are the major things right now. There are a couple more, but they are top secret. Don't worry they're all good and there are no plots to take over the world or your pants. I finished Nothing's Sacred! Awesome book and a recommended read! So I think I'm about done updating my page for today. Oh... did you catch the keyboardist's eye's below?
Saturday, May 28, 2005 1:32 AM: Hey folks! Sorry for the lack of updates. I'm not going to make excuses or anything as to why i didn't update my site. I wrote on may 11 as you can see below; however, i never uploaded it. Some things that recently happened were as follows:
I need to find more time to put stuff up! Shite! Enjoy your summer fool! Email me and let me know that you read this crap! ha! -gee-reg Wednesday, May 11, 2005 11:17 PM: So I went jogging tonight around Woodlawn Lake. What a superb evening it was. While it was a little humid, the temperature in combination with the light breeze was cool enough to offset the humidity. I ran twice around the Lake equating to roughly 2.66 miles. I also walked for another 2.66 miles. I feel mighty good! I'm not even as tired as I might expect. I had a lot of time to think about things when I was jogging and walking. I think I'm going to try something new. Let's hope it works! I recently finished the spring semester at the Lake but have yet to find out my grades. I'll probably get those on monday. I'm pretty certain about two of them and the other four are up in the air. Sunday, April 17, 2005 2:10 PM: The past few times I've updated the site it's been on Sunday... Interesting. I guess I'll sum up the past week. "Amazingly interesting" is a phrase that might adequately describe this week. I met 3 CEOs this past week and set up a meeting with the CEO of the largest local bank in San Antonio - Don Frost of Frost Bank. I also developed a genius yet simplistic idea for a business. I went to a networking breakfast for the North Chamber of Commerce at the 7th story of the Petroleum club. On Monday I was able to assist my boss from iSoldIt, Delilah Burgett, with a presentation to the Alamo PC Organization. We had an interesting time there and I had the strangest idea. If it develops you'll know about it. On Tuesday Morning I met some fellow classmates at the Lake at about 6:05 am in the morning. We hopped in my blazer and made our way north to the Energy Plaza. We arrived extremely early at the Petroleum Club which ended up being a good thing. We got acquainted with the place and soon met the leaders of some of the businesses in the San Antonio area. Doug Roper, a great sculptor, and Ms Jeanne M McLeod were very generous with their time and gave us a little information on how they worked. It was kinda strange being there because we had yet to develop our unestablished businesses. I also got blown of by some lady. bitch. ha. It was pretty funny. Anyway I had a good time. Later that day I went to help campaign for my friend Mr. Chris Cavasos who will soon be president of the Student Government Association. He was running against the evil republican Isidro something. This guy is a complete spaz. He wrote a terrible article that was published in the Lake Front. Anyway the campaigning for Chris went very well. I am certain that he will win this election. It's about time we have a liberal in the SGA. On Wednesday I started to meet some really cool people. Tony Terracini of Sunshine Ventures is one of the successful men I met this past week. Mr. Terracini moved to San Antonio from Michigan primarily to take custody of his sons. He was a VP of a company in Michigan. He went through a divorce in which he lost three of his kids. However his wife said that he could have custody of his kids if he ever moved out of Michigan. He quickly looked for a business to buy and made his way down to San Antonio where he would later sell this business to help fun his new venture entitled "Sunshine Ventures." Although he never directly said it, Sunshine Ventures is probably worth somewhere around 69 million bucks! Crazy! However, Mr Terracini made it a point to want to be known as a successful man and not successful business man. Extrememly nice and professing his life story with candor makes him an instant role model. He established 5 F's of which he attributes his success.
Family is what Mr Terracini stressed the most. Nick Anthony was present at this intimate meeting with Mr Terracini and I can say he was equally an impressive man. Mr Anthony is an MBA graduate from Our Lady of the Lake University. I first got to meet Mr Anthony in a class field trip to Papouli's Greek Restaurant. He skimmed the details of his newly found business to about 10 students from Dr. Dan Glasier's Production Operations Management class. After his brief detailing of the restaurant I met with him and thanked him for sharing the workings of his business and his life with us. I also asked him if I could set up and interview with him. This past Thursday I interview Mr Anthony. Mr Anthony's parent's owned a $29 million company which San Antonians know as Sea Island. Rock! What a great restaurant. However, after gaining a wealth of knowledge from UT Mr Anthonys parents were more than hesitant when hearing about his new ideas to develop and grow the business. He decided it was time to jump out of Sea Island and into Demo's Greek Restaurant which he would later buy out his partner and make it the bustlingly delicious restaurant Papouli's . He was so kind in talking with me and also stressed the importance of Faith and Family. I think it'll take a while before I get the faith thing down but I can definitely get down the family part... I hope... Anyway, Mr Anthony stressed the importance of listening to your customer and striving for the best. His ability to listen to the customer in addition to focusing on his family and his faith has allowed him to become a successful business man as well as a successful man! Mr. Nick Anthony was the best person I could relate to out of all three important peeps I met. David Zachary was the last person I had the pleasure of meeting. Our Managerial Communication class was invited to visit the Zachary Company on Friday. Zachary was a government construction agency (i think). His father's father's father had started the business in the 1920's and has grown to become a large wonderful company. We toured their facilities on the San Antonio's Southside. It was quite an amazing complex for a Construction company. One thing apparent in Mr. Zachary's operations was that he listened to his employees. It seemed that the key to the success of his company was providing for his employees. He said that if his employees were successful then they would be successful in their lives which ultimately meant they would be successful at work. The way they made sure this was possible was by meeting Zachary's employees outside needs at work. They had a fitness center located on their second floor which included a full time fitness trainer and a mini doctors office. This shaved off about an hour of the employees need to drive to the gym and drive back home all while avoiding rush hour either in the morning or in the evening. They also had a prayer room for the religously devout as well as a place to get tickets for anything - movies, theme parks, etc. They also invested in their employees by allowing them to train themselves which would allow for promotions within the company. A notable thing definitely worth mention is I talked to the lovely Ms Sonia. Highlight of the week! I am almost done reading Leadership by Rudy Giuliani. It's quite a good book and definitely worth reading. As I was reading Leadership I wondered what it would take to be mayor. I want to lead as efficiently and as effectively as he did. It seems as though the answer is learning. And by learning I mostly mean reading which given the right material is learning. Anyone can become great if they read with comprehension and apply what they learn to their lives. People often aren't learned to many things and this sets them apart from people who do take the time to read, learn and lead. People who read and learn, lead. Lead is the combination of learn and read! Go figure. Okay, that was kind of corny. It also made me think what the future of leaders will be. Soon it won't be enough just to learn by reading semi-random things. People will eventually start learning by a strict structure. We've already begun to do this with schools. I could elaborate more but right now my stomach is pulling me to the kitchen and my mind is pulling me to the last 40 pages of Leadership. So as I part ways with the WWW I leave you a promise to keep you informed about me. Peas! Sunday, April 10, 2005 11:54 PM: This past week was pretty decent. A few notable things that are better left to myself occured. I'm almost done with school for the semester! Less than 22 days and I am definitely counting. Yet I always have so much to do when things wind down. Lets hope i find the impetus to get things done. I recently took an Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. The results were amazingly accurate. Insane! I am an ENTP. I know you're asking "What the blood is an ENTP!?!?!?!" (unless you're a business or psychology nerd.) Well, E stands for extravert. I guess I would say I'm somewhat of an extrovert. I'm typically quite around new people (unless there are some inhibitors in me.) It takes me a fair amount of time before I actually open up and live up to the gregariousness in my name. The alternative to extravert in the MBTI is intravert. N stands for intuition. This means I pay attention to the patterns in information I get. People who are N's are concerned with the big picture, the future, as opposed to the alternative. The S's are concerned with the present. I think i'm a futuristic kind of guy (mentally.) T stands for Thinking. I'm a thinker and definitely not a feeler, the alternative. When we analyzed our results in class it was interesting to see that all the guys were on one side and all the girls were on the other. I definitely put more weight on objective principles and facts than personal concerns. You have to if you're going to be in business. Lastly, I am a P and very proud of it yet sometimes it gets me in trouble! One of the characteristics of a P is that they like to stay open and respond to whatever happens. Whereas the J's tend to want to make decisions as soon as possible to avoid having to deal with the situation in the future. Another characteristic of a P is that we like to work in burst of energy. This definitely is me. No if, ands or buts about it. So there's a little insight on how I work. Most of the literature describing ENTPs is dead on in relation to me. So if you want to know exactly what my personality is like read about ENTPs. It just so happened that my MBTI results matched those of my professor, Doc Gray. By the way... she's the best prof on the planet. Speaking of Doc Gray, she invited me to a business dinner/gala for Providence High School. It was a good chance to go to something I wouldn't have normally gone to. I was able to chat with W. Romo and recieved a good deal of interesting information from him. I was also able to get to know Doc Gray a little better. One of the many admiral things I learned about her was that she's writing a children's book. Rock! I think i'm going to bed. night. Sunday, April 3, 2005 11:45 AM: Well I didn't perform at the Xtreme night at school due to some drum lessons that went over but that's ok. I started to learn a couple of new songs, no one's gonna come (sondre) and the scientist (coldplay). Good songs to learn. MuchoSanAntonio.com is underway. A non-profit business/organization aimed at helping local san antonio artists and micro-entreprenuers get exposure outside of San Antonio. Also, we hope to educate these individuals to utilize technology themselves to increase business as well as consulting them to improve and develop their business practices. Support MSA.com! Thoughts have been brewing in my head for a while about making a solo CD. Up until recently, the lack of time and more importantly the spark of creativity have prevented this from happening. A few weeks ago the spark was seen. Four songs in addition to two already created songs are now in the tracklist for the new CD. Other music related news I have added a my discography section. enjoy. most music is out of print/production; however, i still have a few copies of most things. I'm also working on becoming the scientist. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 9:06 PM: I
checked your status We're finally getting things going for my ebusiness class. I must say it's getting very interesting. My cousin mike developed a logo for us and boy does it look sharp! I jammed out with Jorge today and we got 3 partial songs. We're coming along. For all those mavis fans, there could be hope for the future. Also in related music news, I'll probably be performing a couple of sondre songs this thursday night at OLLU's Xtreme/open mic night. I'm not sure when or where but be there! I'm startings to write a little discourse on balance. It'll probably be entitled Self Balance. I've found a road for optimizing one's performance so I'd thought I'd send this out to everyone Well that's all for tonight folks! We'll talk later. Sunday, March 27, 2005 2:18 PM: What a superb and glorious day it is today! I went jogging around Woodlawn Lake and my it was nice! There were tons and tons of people all out celebrating this magnificent day! It was mighty wind while i was doing my jog. It seemed as though mother nature was stiff arming my forehead head on while I made my way around the home stretch. I'm back at home now awaiting my drummer-cousin, tony, to come bust some jams with me in my aunts garage and then off to Amy's for some family festivities. Perhaps we'll talk more later! niotome.fo.xulf.a.hcus..niaga.ecno..seigolopa. Saturday, March 26, 2005 0:59 AM: day two of reorganizing my room. have you ever moved something out of your room and realized that you want it back in? I think that just happened to me. I know it needs to be in my room I just can't figure how I should position it. Because I can't figure it out I'm slowly losing. Hopefully by Sunday i'll have my desk fully constructed. Perhaps that will help me better organize my room for maximum efficiency. Then I can start moving things back in but will it stay alive? srohpatem.ni.klat.i.em.esucxe. Thursday, March 24, 2005 2:10 PM: Sometimes things dont always go as planned. I just heard a beautiful song by the fabulous ampop. Can't wait for their CD to come out. The application of inspiration has left me thinking (see picture above.) I bought a new desk. hopefully the new layout of my room will foster creativity and productivity. I finished this book. yhtleah.ti.si? niotome.fo.xulf.a.hcus. Tuesday, March 22, 2005 0:13 AM: For the stars... This past weekend our University held an Easter Egg Hunt. My Managerial Communication class (comprised of 7 individuals including myself) was given the task to coordinate and execute this event. It was the most challenging school task I had ever recieved. However, as the event arrived we kicked it into gear and were ready to take on a crowd of 1200+ alumni, faculty, staff and students. We gave up our spring break to prepare for this event. At the conclusion of the event all seven of us were exhausted. However, we all felt a sense of accomplishment which put us at ease. During the event we began receiving compliments. Even two days after we still are receiving compliments. A person whose opinion I highly value gave me the following compliment " Your leadership on Saturday, and throughout this event, was so impressive. You are going to do great things, Greg. Aim high—very high." Just hearing this was enough compensation for all the work and effort I put into this project. And so I aim "for the stars." Corny but true... Wednesday, March 16, 2005 6:11 PM: It's been a while hasn't it? Well, a lot has been going on since we last spoke. March 19th is my big Easter Event. I spent my whole spring break planning and getting ready for this event. I'm a bit concern because it could possibly rain! That would suck for the kids. So send a prayer to the heavens that it doesn't rain. So yeah, I won a couple of auctions on ebay. One was for "who moved my cheese," an excellent book on change and the other was a GCB-100 Bass wah pedal. Woot! I'll have to write more later because jazz class is a in a few. Peas out homies Monday, February 21, 2005 9:51 AM: As compared to the previous entry you might notice a more energetic entry. I had a decent amount of sleep this past sleep cycle. It feels good to wake up with out that annoying beeping sound every half second. I recieved my paycheck from work the other day and I want to make a big purchase. I'd like to get a Rickenbacker bass 4001 -$1600, a Gibson ES-335 electric guitar $899, a fender hotrod deluxe tube amp - $799, an Orange Amplifier - $1250, a couple of electronic books - $150, eBay stock - currently 42.46 a share, or a Roth IRA - $1000 to start. However, my time seems to be constantly consumed by school and work. There is little to no time to play any of the above instruments or books. However investing is wise when you don't necessarily have the time for things. eBay should do well in the long run but I don't know if I want my money locked up that long. I'll probably end up sitting on this money in the long run. It's both a smart and dumb thing to do. Smart in the fact that I won't be spending it on stuff I can't use. Dumb in the fact that I'll just be sitting on this money when someone else could be sitting on this money and making more money for me. Oh well. The Easter Egg Hunt I'm conducting for one of my classes seems to be in better shape; however it's not in optimal shape. A little focused attention can hopefully turn that around. I'll be adding some more comics in the future along with a few fun pictures I took at work. But now I must go. Four fruits and vegetables, a bowl of Special K, a centrum performance multivitamin and a glass of water await me! Keep
it real. Wednesday, February 16, 2005 6:23 PM: Down Came the Sky With my last tank of energy, I write this message. Oh yes, and pardon the terrible analogy it was the only one left on the shelf. My life has been crowded with events. Some are gasping for air as they are claustrophobic. Others don't seem to mind the closeness of others. I guess you can see it as an over crowded party. Smoke, spilt trash can punch, ripped furniture, missing CDs, people passed out, dirty dishes, shit all over your toilet seat and on the curtains! - all part of my party. Today, you can definitely say that someone just trashed my quarters. Tore up from the floor up as john snider would say. Vomit everywhere. I had a Proposal Presentation today in one of my most important classes. There were seven people on our team. Today it seemed like only 2 people were part of the team. She and I did our best with what we had. We were running late because we were writing the presentation one hour and 30 minutes before the presentation. We had a good amount of people walk out on us as we gave the presentation. She and I'll admit that the both of us were a little under prepared; however, she and I seemed the most prepared. Everyone else seemed like they bombed the presentation. After the presentation everyone, like they always seem to do when you need them most, left. A debriefing from my professor (best prof in the world) revealled her extreme discontent with our performance. I felt so bad. This is the professor that I held in such high regards. I wanted to do whatever she would tell me to do and do it 100%. Now it seems as though i've let her down. She knew where I was coming from though. She saw that she and I were pull the weight of seven. Our leader was leading us down the path of failure. I stepped in but it was a little too late. Our professor and team members are going to have a meeting on Monday... Sounds like trouble to me! Needless to say this has left she and I exhausted. However, there are always reserves. I am smart enough to have some left somewhere... aren't I? With every weakness comes opportunity. Opportunity to improve. Opportunity to turn things around. Opportunity to show people you're are capable cleaning up the mess, restoring everything, and most importantly adding value beyond expectations. More that likely on Monday we will be reassigned tasks and positions. I definitely can get this drunkard back to normal. However, it will take a little time. I also have to clean his vomit off my parent's picture. Is that a piece of shrimp?... anyway... we'll see what happens. I've added a comic for your enjoyment! Until you read again! -gregk Thursday, February 10, 2005 3:39 PM News: For anyone who cares, I'm feeling a lot better. Emotional levels are returning to equilibrium. I don't know if it was the weather or what.. In my jazz class yesternight we had good amount of fun. We played a tune called Take 5 and it's definitely hip to the groove. I didn't do so bad on my solo for a change. What do I mean by that??? well i'm not a very good soloist because i've never really attempted to much to solo. In my previous band, mavis, we tried to stay away form solos because i thought they were long and boring turns out i also couldnt play them too well... hehe... But now i'm getting better. My current influences as far as soloing goes is probably omar rod from the mars volta and fripp from king crimson. Back to jazz, we're going to be playing at a coffee house type thing on march 16. You should come check us out... I'm probably going to play a couple of sondre tunes. I've been completely caught up in this easter egg hunt that one of my classes is putting on for 1500 peeps. I really haven't been doing as much work as I should be doing but i've definitely been thinking about it a lot. I find some of my group members are really hard to work with. But that's ok... I should be kicking the motivation in to overdrive now that i'm well again. If you want to read any old news I put it on a new page. So click the "Past News" like at the bottom of the page if you want to read it (can't understand why you would want to.) Ok and now for the fun stuff... I'm going to try to start posting my mini-comics again. So go to the pictures section.
