RAF Fighters |
Ok now you should've linked through to the RAF Fighter section of meh Webby. Below are just some of the tasters that are going to appear on this site as and when i upload them. This section of the webby is going to deal with the principle RAF fighters that operated during the war, maybe a few pre-war ones aswell. There will be a mixture of Black and White photos alongside Colour ones. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as i do. |

Now i must admit to being a Hurricane nut. Don't ask me why.. i just love 'em. Much to the ridicule of my best m8 Dr Cheeks. Now I found this colour piccie of a Hurricane IIB in Nightfighter colour scheme. Scorcher isn't she!! :o) |

Another Hurricane piccie. This time of a Mk IVD. This baby saw active service in Africa (noting the air filter under the nose), but what's special about this Hurri is the 40mm Vickers 'S' Tank-busting guns slung under each wing. Now she might turn like a brick, but you seriously wouldn't want to be facing this beast in Air Attack :o) |

Now here's one for the classic Warbird lover. The Supermarine Spitfire V. The Mk V was the evolution of the early Spits that fought during the Battle of Britain. The Mk V was one of the first fighters to take the battle back to Fortress Europe on 'Rhubarb' and 'Circus' missions. More than a Match for the Luftwaffe's Me 109E it helped the Allies take the first tentative steps to Air Superiority. Unfortunately the Mk V's reign came to an end with the arrival of the Luftwaffe's latest offspring, the Focke-Wulf 190 or 'Butcher Bird' as it became known as. |
