Progress Report
April 1998
Math:
Kevin--13th test: 97.5%--14th test: 99% --15th test: 95%--16th test: 92%--17th test: 97.5%. He is learning about rectangular coordinates, more advanced expressions and area.
Erin --10th test: 92.5%--11th test: 90%--12th test: 90%-- 13th test 97.5%. She is learning about rates, unit multipliers, changing fractions to percents, and calculating percentages.
Vocabulary, Language Arts: Kevin and Erin
took their big cumulative test; Kevin got a 96% and Erin got a 93%. GREAT JOB! After a section on learning about pronouns, they took a test and got 92% percent on it.

Reading: Kevin and Erin will both be turning in one Book Report each month. The books chosen for April are-

Social Studies: We are continuing our study of Africa.
Kevin will be doing another report on Africa--He turned in an extended report on Sudan, which earned an "A" and was extremely interesting.
Our new section of study is coastal west Africa

Science: We have learned about the importance of bats. Bats can really help to keep the bug population down and they also pollinate many crops and flowers.
We have also studied many types of bats, they are broken into 2 main groups, cave-dwellers and tree-dwellers.
Bible Studies: We are reading The Parables of Jesus These are the Parables we have discussed this month-
- PLACES OF HONOR- Luke 14:7-14 (finishing)
- GREAT SUPPER- Luke 14:15-24
- TOWER BUILDER & WARRING KING- Luke 14:28-33
- LOST SHEEP-Mat. 18:12-14 and Luke 15:4-7
Computer: Kevin will be continuing his work on his Redwall page and Erin Will work on her new homepage. Both Kevin and Erin are waiting to adopt cyber-mice to add onto their new homepages.
Art & Music: In art we are beginning our final pictures. We will work some pencil sketches first, then transfer these to canvas and paint our final water color.
In music we are beginning John Williams--he composes many of the sound tracks for popular movies, such as Star Wars and Jurassic Park.
Physical Education: Gymnastics, Swing Contests
