Hi, welcome to the 'About Me' section of my home page.

My name is Ian Shaw, and I live with friends in Durham, North Carolina USA, though originally I come from Nottingham, England.

I was educated at Spring Street Primary School and Holgate Comprehensive (both in Nottinghamshire) and then went to Basford Hall College of Futher Education to get a BTEC Diploma in Business Studies. I worked for 10 years at Rolls Royce, one of the worlds leading aero-engine manufacturers, as the Raw Material Stores Controller. I studied Feline Behaviour and Pet Behaviour Therapy through courses run by Dr. Peter Neville, an acknowledge expert and author of several Feline related books.
Apart from my love of cats, my other hobbies/sources of enjoyment, are reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels, and also Thrillers and Horrors, watching Sci-Fi programmes like Babylon 5, Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager. I enjoy walking and swimming and horse riding (though I don't get much chance nowadays), and playing around on my PC. I am quite a shy and private person with people I don't know too well, but anyone who is close to me would probably tell you that I can be very loud and outrageous, with a wicked sense of humour.
My dream would be to win the Lottery, and buy myself a nice big house, so that I could expand my family of cats, and settled down with that (so far elusive) someone special!
My all-time favourite movies are 'The Colour Purple' with Whoopi Goldberg (it still brings a lump to my throat, 'Roxanne' with Steve Martin & Darryl Hannah (very funny and gentle movie), and 'The Abyss' with Ed Harris (a real nailbiter, even better in the uncut version). My favourite T.V. shows are Coronation Street, The Bill, Roseanne, B5, Star Trek TNG, and The X Files. Favourite drinks are Guinness, Cider, Southern Comfort, and Coffee (yes seriously), with my favourite food being Lasagne and chips.
