He was married to Julia Ann Tucker about the year 1850 and to this union three children were born, Elizabeth, John and Louisa all of whom are still living. In September 1856 his wife died and left him to care for the children and in 1857 he was married to Miss Lucretia Ridens. He was converted in 1888 but never joined any church. His second wife departed this life July 10, 1894. He has nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and a host friends to mourn for him. He was borne by his sons to the grave. The services were conducted by the writer. Uncle Jim lived in a house near his son John and was cared for by him and his grandsons until his death. The grandsons gave special care to him watching day and night until God said "come home!" Uncle Jim said to the writer "that he was ready to die and it was grand to think of stepping out of a world of darkness and sin into a world of light and rest to live with God, angels and friends forever". He is gone but not forgotten. P. Davis.55 He lived circa 1838 at Missouri (according to his obituary he moved to Missouri with his parents at the age of 8 years old). "Goodspeed Book of Wright County, Missouri" Biographical Appendix J.W.Rippee, druggist at Cedar Gap, Wright County, Mo., was born in Webster County, Mo., in 1850, the son of John and Catherine Newton Rippee, and grandson of William Rippee, who died when John Rippee (J.W.) was small. John Rippee was born in Kentucky in 1822, and grew to manhood in Indiana. He came to Missouri in 1837, locating in what is now Webster County, but then Pulaski, and is one of the pioneer men of the place. His wife, Catherine Newton, was born in Indiana in 1833, and by her marriage became the mother of ten children, and J.W.Rippee being the eldest in order of birth. He was reared in Webster County on a farm and remained on the same farm until June 19, 1888, when he was united in marriage to Melissa Potter, of Douglas County, Mo., born in 1869, and the daughter of William Potter, one of the early settlers. Mrs. Rippee received a common-school education, and was a refined and much esteemed lady. Mr. Rippee embarked in the drug business in May, 1887. CENSUS: U.S. 1870 Webster Co., MO. He died in 1864 at Elk Creek, Wright County, Missouri (he was killed by bushwackers and his body was thrown in a sink hole west of Jerktail, in Wright Co., Missouri).68,69,33 He was buried.

When the government opened up land in the Indian Territory, Okahoma for homesteading in 1889 it brought a rush of settlers. Among them were William C., his half-sister Mallisa Rippee Yound and husband A. Jack Young, settling near Ardmore in 1895. Later they moved to the Bromide area. William C. returned to Wright County and lived there several years, when he met a lovely young lady, Stella Elsa Richman.76
