He was buried at Wells Valley Cemetery, Bromide, Johnston County, Oklahoma.76

He also went by the name of Crippled Bill.85 Another Todd cousin remembered that William C. dug the well at the Shaddy place, next to the old Shaddy Church near Grovespring. William C. became a farm laborer early in life working for several farmers in the Wright County area. We have been told by an aunt the "Bill played a violin very well."85 The courts appointed Samuel M. Autsin as his guardian. In the 1880 census, William C. is listed in the household of S. M. Austin. When he became older he went to stay with some of his Rippee relatives, Marinda "Rindie" Allen, wife of Dan and daughter of James Jr. and Milly Young Rippee. He also stayed with Mary "Polly" Todd, wife of Rev. Thomas Todd and daughter of Cyrus Rippee and Mahulda Young Rippee. A Todd cousin told that he remebered William C. decorating graves of "Grandma Coil" Mahulda Young Rippee Coil, "Uncle Buck" William F. Young and Aunt "Rindie" Allen on Memorial Day.85 When the government opened up land in the Indian Territory, Okahoma for homesteading in 1889 it brought a rush of settlers. Among them were William C., his half-sister Mallisa Rippee Yound and husband A. Jack Young, settling near Ardmore in 1895. Later they moved to the Bromide area. William C. returned to Wright County and lived there several years, when he met a lovely young lady, Stella Elsa Richman. Shortly after the birth of their son Guss they went to Oklahoma to live and settled newar Bromide.76

He married Grace Carter, daughter of Gus Carter and Tilda Gott, on 18 Mar 1919. He died before 1991. He was buried at Green Mountain Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Wright County, Missouri.88

He and Grace Carter became members of the Calvary Baptist Church at Whetstone Creek, Hartville, Wright County, Missouri. The Church is located east of Hartville on Highway 38. Homer and Grace were charter members.
