What's New at Jayne's Country Home

This is where I keep you all up to date on what is new in my little corner of the net. It took me about a year, but now my Web site is looking pretty much how I want it look now. Future changes will happen as the mood takes me - like decorating a home.

December 31st, 1998

Since I was sitting at work with absolutely nothing to do (being about the only person here today!) I decided to use the Geocities file manager to access my Home Page and do a little clean up.
At one time I ran out of space in my 2 megs and had to delete some midi files. Well, now I have 11 megs available to play with, I decided to hunt around and pick out a couple more midis to add on my page. I selected "Your Song" by Elton John, "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley, "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty, "Sailing" by Christopher Cross and "Kiss for a Rose", by Seal (which reminds of the nights spent on IRC playing the wav file of that entire song). Even after adding all that on, I've still only used 2.5 megs of my 11 megs free Web space!

December 20th, 1998

When mum and dad went to visit Sue and Mark, they got on the Net and visited my Web site. They even signed my Guest book with the comment "you need to update Abigail's pictures" Well since, I have been rather lapse and haven't scanned any for over a year I decided it was time to update Abigail's pages. I added about 9 more I think, and I linked to them from the navigation pages, instead of only from my Bio page.

December 10th

Put my "christmas decorations" up. Looked all over the Widow's Web site for her free graphics that she's had there for two years but couldn't find them. I emailed her and she told me that she had to take down the free graphics because people would link to them, instead of downloading them and that caused problems with her Web host, they wanted to charge her for the extra traffic! In addition, I appear to have deleted the beautiful "Happy Winter" graphic I used last year so I couldn't use it again :-(

Decorated my pages in Fall colors and used yet another lovely graphic from the Widow's Web
June 9, 1998

Added Geoguides on many of the pages (at the bottom, not at the top, as is suggested.
Changed the Mining Co. banner and button to the new ones.
Updated the information on a few of the pages

I absolutely LOVE the graphics at The Widow's Web!! I have used three of them now - the Happy Winter one I had up over Christmas (well until nearly Valentine's), the Valentine's and now the lovely fairies and flowers that are currently gracing my page. I wish I was half as talented *sigh*

Wow, time flies! I have been so busy with my Mining Com. page that I hardly realized that here it was close to Valentine's Day and I still have Christmas decorations on my web page! So today I am taking care of that -will have to remember to take these down and put up some easter ones in time for easter! Again I got my Happy Valentine graphic from the same place I got the Happy Winter one (see below)

Decorated the page in time for Christmas. Found a beautiful site at The Widow's Web that has the most beautiful artwork on it. She has free stuff as well as a showcase of her commissioned work. I got a lovely Happy Winter Graphic.
As you can see, I have been very busy with other projects and have not had a lot of time to work on this page. Plus - I really have it the way I like it for now. This is pretty much the layout and design I had in mind when I started it, so it is just a case of maintaining now. One thing I do need to do is to go through and see which of the links are dead - I'm sure some of them are.

July 30, 1997

Re-did the Index page, removing all the extra graphics.
Moved the Webrings, Membership and Women of the Web graphics to their own pages. Makes everything easier to access.
Added the new pages into the Navigation, which involved pulling every html off the server, making the changes and re-uploading them.
Took the opportunity to get rid of all the center tags and replace them with DIV ALIGN and P ALIGN (I had started to do this, but many of the earlier pages still were not done)

May 9, 1997 -- Made it as far as the Webmaster's Warzone, the semi-finals of the Site Fights!! Once I was defeated in the Site Fights I immediately turned my attention to working on Horses at The Mining Company - so these pages languished untouched for over a month.
May 3, 1997

Re-did the navigation links on all pages to include the most recent pages, which I had been putting off.
Added The Country Post Office , a free digital postcard service.

Apr 27, 1997 Added The Funnies".
Apr 18, 1997 Added my own graphic of a cottage on to the index page, plans are to give the whole page a country cottage feel, this is just a beginning.
Mar 29, 1997 Commencing March 31, Jayne's Country Home will be entering the Site Fights!! See my Spirit Page for details.
Mar 23, 1997 Put up the frames pages in Jayne's Country Home.
Mar 15, 1997 Finally got my little cottage in the country up and running! Jayne's Country Home is a mirror of my Earthlink site site at the moment but eventually I will diversify them. Only problem is, I not sure how yet.

Re-worked the Romance page and added Poet's Corner to showcase additional works I have received from IRC friends
Added my Easter Page.
Discovered the DIV ALIGN tag and proceeded to remove over 100 center tags on one page alone! Will continue to work through the other pages as I update them

Mar 4, 1997 Added a page regarding drug abuse and domestic violence, themes which concern me deeply

Added more links to Links Page, plus a link to City of Houston Home Page on All About Me.
Double checked graphics for ALT tags and HEIGHT and WIDTH tags.
Added Easter graphics and background on index page. Added my adopted cyber kitty, Midnight

Feb 23, 1997 Added "Follow-Around-Sound" as a test.
Feb 20, 1997

Made some changes to the Equestrian page, including changing the background and adding tables to contain the photographs.
Added this "What's New" section and updated both the frames and non-frames menu pages to reflect it.
Changed Index page, removing Valentine's graphics. Added a "Credits" section and also a "Memberships" section, with appropriate links.

Feb 18, 1997

Made a lot of small changes, including changing the way the links open up. Now they open at the top of the page instead of within my frames.
Improved navigation on the non-frames pages by adding an index of links at the bottom of every page.

Feb 14, 1997

Added several pictures of Abigail, changed the display to access a different page from a table on Abigail's main page.
Redesigned Awards Pages, giving each award it's own line and limiting number per page to six, for ease of downloading.
