Wisdom comes only with experience, and experience comes only with time.
Psalm 127.1.
Unless the Lord builds the house the labourer labours in vain.
I want to be a fully yielded vessel. I don't want to try and be a this
or a that. I want the Lord's will to be done in my life.
Don't CHASE after a ministry. Chase after an obedient, yielded walk today
and the Lord; the master craftsman; will build in and through you according
to His holy will.
Bloom where you are planted.
Never say all that you know, but always know all that you say.
"If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross..."
The cross is something you do. Every time you give, a little bit of you dies. You die to self. A little bit of that part of you that wants to run your own life, that wants to leave God out and not include others, dies. On the other hand, every time you give of yourself; love, energy, talents, time, money, a big part of you comes alive, and you share in the joy of the resurrection that follows on the heels of the cross.
It often shows fine command of language to say nothing.
What do you want to be for the Lord? What do you see yourself being? A missionary,
a teacher, a pastor, a servant to the needy? More than anything, want to be
yielded and want His will to come to pass in your life. It ain't no use
trying to be something under your own steam. You might be trying to build
your house to a whole different set of blueprints to the one the Lord has
in his hand for you. Man, what your trying to build might seem to Him like a
cruddy old tin out-house compared to the palace He wants to build in you.
If your self-image isn't that crash hot you're probably under-selling
yourself. Seek 1st to be living in obedience to Him and let Him do His job
of building.
Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow.
Luke 9 : 23...must take up his cross daily and follow me.
Becoming a Christian is instant but to be a follower takes time. We are like an iceberg in that only one tenth of us is above the surface. Underneath, hidden from view is our real personality, our deep longings, our likes and dislikes. When we are saved, most of us is still submerged but as we meet our conflicts, needs and problems we emerge and expand in our Christian lives. Following Christ gives you the confidence to be your new self.
The factory that produces the most important product is the home.
The happiest couples are those who spell "us" with a capital "you".
God hates sin, it breaks his heart. Many times we sin and say sorry with our mouth but because we don't understand how much it grieves God and the effect it has on us and others, that sorrow does not lead us to true repentance from the heart. We need to hate sin. Jesus is coming back for a bride that is holy and blameless. Praise God that we no longer have to be slaves to sin and live under it's power. Through Jesus Christ we have the freedom to obey God and receive the free gift of eternal life.
Making marriage work is like running a farm-you have to start all over again each morning.
Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile.
Psalm 1 : 1-2. 1Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night NIV.
We all need to be wise with whom we spend our time because our friends or associates can have a big influence on us, not only in big ways but also in small ways. If we are not careful we can find ourselves compromising God's word to accomodate our friends. Verse 2 shows us that we need to focus on God and the things he likes, building a strong relationship with Him, and in doing so we will be strong enough to influence others towards God rather than the other way around.
How should we be with our bro's and so's?
Rom. 14.1. Welcome all the Lords' followers, even those whose faith is weak.
Rom. 14.10 Why do you criticize other followers of the Lord? Why do you look down on them?
Rom. 14.13 We must stop judging others.
Rom. 15.1 If our faith is strong, we should be patient with those whose faith is weak. We should try to please them instead of ourselves.
Rom.15.7 Honour God by accepting each other, as Christ has accepted you.
If at first you don't succeed, try something harder.
