Tyneside Tilters or Westminster Wobblers?

On the day after the opening of Newcastle's Millenium Bridge, the nation is asking itself, "are you a Tyneside Tilter, or a Westminster Wobbler"?

As we all know, the Millenium Bridge in London has been closed due to structural problems giving it a "wobble", and will be sold to the Corporation of London once this problem is fixed. The Newcastle-Gateshead Millenium Bridge, however, has had no such problems.

The Newcastle Millenium Bridge is now known as the eyelid due to its distinctive "blinking" motion and curved edges. As the first bridge to be built over the river Tyne for more than one hundred years, the people Tyneside are jusifiably proud of this latest edition to the famous Tyne bridges.

Many people in London, however, preferred the bridge with a wobble, saying it livened up the walk across, but it was deemed unsafe and closed for renovations shortly after being opened, to the embarassment of the owners. The Newcastle Bridge opened on the 17th September 2001 (work started in 1999) and was crossed by a variety of people, most of whom thoroughly enjoyed the experience on the new bridge.

Whereas the London Millenium Bridge wobbles, the Tyneside variety tilts - does this perhaps say something about the people of London and Tyneside?

So, its time to make your decision, are you a wobbler or a tilter?
