1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa

The most popular Testa Rossa was the least succesfull as a racing car - the early pontoon-fendered 250 TR. While Ferrari won LeMans four times (1958, 1960, 1961, and 1962) with Testa Rossa-type roadsters, none was a pontoon-fendered body-style car. Still, because of the car's unique beauty, it's much sought after today.

The 250 TR engine was the now historic 2953cc V-12 with a single chain-driven overhead canshaft on each bank of cylinders, working two inclined valves per cylinder via short rocker armes and roller cam followers. Horsepower was rated 300 at 7200 rpm, but Enzo Ferrari claimed that power was fairly constant from 1500 to 7800 rpm.
