About Hillary
Biography Hillary Fields, a native New Yorker, has traveled in four continents and leapt screaming from both airplanes and tall bridges, all in the name of fun. She took classes in history, classics and literature at New York University, earned her B.A. studying the classics of Western Civilization at St. John's College in Santa Fe, and spent the subsequent summer learning the ropes of the publishing business at the well-known Radcliffe Publishing Course in Boston, MA.

Afterwards, she returned for a brief stint in the mountains of New Mexico to complete her first historical romance, The Maiden's Revenge, which she had begun to write while still in college. Then, finished at last, she returned home with

manuscript in tow to take her first full-time employment as a literary agent's
assistant while simultaneously shopping her
own book around town. Five
months later she received an offer from St. Martin's Press to buy the novel,
her first professional sale as an author.

Hillary has also written several short stories (including one which was
nominated for the 1998 Pushcart Prize), innumerable poems, and
completed her second historical r
omance, entitled Marrying Jezebel,
for St. Martin's Press in 2001. Her third historical romance, Heart of a
Lion
, released in December of 2001, just won Romantic Times'
Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Historical Romance of 2001, an
honor she's simply thrilled about!

Also in 2001, The New York Times City Section profiled Ms. Fields in
an article entitled "A Romance Novelist Still Seeks Her White Knight"
(an action which caused her no small consternation when dozens
of single men began calling her still-listed number offering to be her
'white knight!'). Later that year, she wrote her first freelance article
for Cosmopolitan Magazine [see The Tough Girl Trap], and has
begun freelancing for various national magazines since.

Her non-writing hobbies include swimming, crocheting, taking terrible
care of houseplants, and traveling whenever possible. She
continues to live in New York, where she takes advantage of the
exciting nightlife, endures the high rents, and shares her computer-
chair (and every other piece of furniture) with her obligatory feline
writer's companions.

Hillary is currently at work on several new projects, including a
contemporary and a historical romance.
