9-Bhavishya Puraan, 2-Madhyam Parv (3), p 267-270

Bad Omens and Ways to Pacify Them

Soot Jee said - "Braahman, Now I tell you about various bad omens and their results. In whose Lagna-chart or Gochar are Paap-Grah (inauspicious planets), one must pacify those planets.

There are three types of harms - Divine (Divya), sky (Antariksh), and earthly (Bhaum). Whatever harm is expected from planets, constellations etc that is called Divine harm. Falling stars, appearance of circles around Sun or Moon, seeing Gandharv's city in sky, no rain, or less rain or excess rains are called sky-related harms. Harms produced from ponds, rivers (flood), mountains (land slides etc), Prithvi (earthquakes etc) are called earth related harms.

Effects of Divine and sky related harms stays up to one week. One should pacify them immediately, otherwise they may continue for long time.

Laughing of Devtaa, flowing of blood, sudden fall of lightening, increase of violence and cruelty, appearance of snakes - these all are Divine harms. If rains from clouds falls only on stones, then beings born in week are destroyed.

If Shani (Saturn), Mangal (Mars) and Soorya (Sun) are located in one Raashi (House) and Prithvi is suddenly seen covered by smoke, then there is a possibility of lots of killing of people.

If Brihaspati (Guru or Jupiter) forwards in another Raashi, without finishing its time in its first Raashi, and Shani is not there, then it is a possibility of destruction of kingdom.

If Soorya is not seen for some time, and directions seem to be burning, Dhoomketu are seen, earthquake occurs repeatedly, rainbow is seen on king's birthday, it will prove very bad for him.

If terrible storms come, planets seem to clash with each other, eclipse occurs twice within three months, stars fall, frogs start running on land, rain's color is yellow, figures of lion and cats are seen in stones, then there is famine and the king dies.

In Chaitra Maas, or when Soorya is in Kumbh Raashi (Phaalgun Maas), if the flow of river increases suddenly, then there is agitation in kingdom.

They are all Soorya produced harms and they should be pacified by Yagya by Soorya Mantra (Yajur Ved, 33|43).

When grains become tasteless, wells dry up, they are also Soorya produced harms and to pacify them one should do 1,000 Aahuti by lotus flowers.

Deformed birds, yellow pigeons, white owls, black crow. if fall in house the that house gets disturbed.

When the necklaces hit each other, newly born baby has teeth, Devtaa's idols laugh, sweat drops are seen in idols, and a snake gives birth in a pitcher or house, then the woman of that house dies in six months.

If one sees falling lightening on house or tree and flames of fire are seen, it brings lots of troubles.

To pacify them one should do Soorya worship on Sunday. Make 10,000 Aahuti of sesame seeds or Kheer, donate a cow, and give Dakshinaa to Braahman. This brings peace very quickly.

If palm tree and betel nut tree grow together then there is a possibility of harm to that family.

If a tree bears the fruits of some other tree, this is Som (Chandramaa or Moon) produced harm. To pacify them, one should offer 1,000 Aahuti to Chandramaa Devtaa from yogurt, honey, Ghee, Palaash flower etc through the "Imam Devaa..." Mantra (Yajur Ved, 9|40) on Monday.

If one's own shadow is seen very close to his feet in south, and two or five heads are seen in that shadow, the head is seen severed, then the seer of this is expected to die in a week.
