Note 1
The Commentary on Geetaa written by Swaamee Dayaanand Jee says - that the soul is surrounded by three bodies, namely -
(1) Kaaran Shareer, that is causal body - This is a kind of database with which everybody takes birth. This is the main cause to take birth in this world. If this is not there there is no reason to take birth, and that is condition of Moksh
(2) Sookshm Shareer, that is astral body -
(3) Sthool Shareer, that is physical body - This is our this physical body which lives on Earth, tolerates sorrows and enjoys pleasures. When our life is over, people destroy it.

Kaaran Shareer and Sookshm Shareer are always there, but when they have to settle their account of past lives (balance sheet of our good and bad Karm) they take physical body, settle their account and leave that Sthool Shareer behind to be destroyed. Then with the new Kaaran Shareer (new account of our Karm) they again take birth - means take Sthool Shareer, to settle the new balance of account afresh.
