In 1982, Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force's "Planet Rock"made breakdancing popular. The futuristic electro beats made breaking. But it died out withe the 80s because the focus was now on the MC skills. There was also a change in the sound of hip hop. Def Jam was born and signed Run-DMC, LL, and Public Enemey. Their music was most definetely a differnt sound than the electro beats of "Planet Rock".

Breaking was also becoming overexposed and a fad that the new school rejected. The movies like "Breakin'" made it commerical.

Breakdancing is making a comeback but instead of Bronx b-boys it's white suburban raver kids from upstate NY and Connecticut and instead of breaking in the streets and at house parties they're doing it at the Konkrete Jungle and Twilo. And their style is definetely different from back in the day.

In 1995, the pioneers of breaking, got togethera 15 member crew and formed Ghettoriginal. They performed in a Off-Broadway show called "Jam on the Groove". This show got a Drama Desk nomination for Best Choregraphy.
