The Bronx had the Bronx Bubble Style, Brooklyn had the loopy look, and Platform Style was Manhattan's MO. Graffiti, it's the art form and first language of hip hop. Back in the day, placement on the train was important. Markers on the inside and aersol on the outside was the way to do it. Graffiti was seen as a pollution for the city and these artists got arrested and their art work whitewashed by orders of Mayor Koch. Guilanini has done his fair share too.
But now graffiti is seen as an American art form invented by Black and Latino kids and it influences the fine art world.
In June 2000, graf art was put on the auction block in Soho's Puck Building. Imagine that!
