Ch.1 Ecosystem

Section 1.What is ecosystem ?

An ecosystem is a system resulting from the interaction of organism and the environment. The interaction can be thought of an imaginary web in which all the living and non-living parts of an environment are connected together. This web is maintained by three groups: producers, consumers and decomposers. The producers are plant s and some bacteria capable of producing their own food. The consumers are usually animals eating plants or algae and are then eaten by others; the decomposers are fungi and bacteria that decompose the organic matter of producers and consumers into inorganic substance. Though out the three groups, energy flows among them, it is vital to substain the balance of the food web .In the next section we will talk about this in detail.
