THE FLY

This creature has been an empathetic man, trapped by his own hands, and
has also been an unthinking, brutal killer.  He has a mixing of human
and housefly DNA, and is grotesque in appearance.  The Fly first came
onto the movie scene in the sci-fi classic "The Fly" in 1958, when an
obsessed scientist rushes the testing of his teleportation device, and
accidentally crosses his atoms with those of a fly.  The suspenseful and
intriguing story was well received.  It's success led to two sequels,
the black & white Return of the Fly, and the out of print Curse of the
Fly.  Then, in the 80's, David Cronenberg took a shot at a remake with
his 1986's "The Fly", which stands out on its own as a great movie.  The
deplorable '89 sequel should be avoided.
