The man behind the counter is Ken Luke, owner and operator of Adam's Dry Cleaners. Down there to the left is Reba, a friendly black lab with her chin on her paw, eyes following Ken's every move. She's been here regularly for the past couple of years because she doesn't like being alone. I've never seen a more content looking animal. Come to think of it, Ken is quite a content looking man. Rarely do people know exactly what they want to do with their lives. Some settle on a career, some change their occupations quite frequently and never settle on just one thing.Ken's been in the business practically all his life. At eight years old he helped his dad deliver Laundry and his mother and his grandparents were both in the Dry Cleaning trade for most of their lives. Ken enthusiastically shares his stories and I can tell how much he loves what he does.
Reba yawns a lot because she's heard all these stories before. Ken has owned Adam's Dry Cleaners for over fourteen years now, with 49 years professional Dry Cleaning experience he's respected in his field by many of his colleagues. He does a lot of contract work from all over London and his customers come from all of the surrounding areas.
An owner operated business is important to people because they like to know who is doing the cleaning. Adam's is one of the few Dry Cleaners offering a senior's discount. Ken believes in old fashioned personal service and is open 6 days a week. All the cleaning is done on the premises and he's one of the few cleaners who cleans on Saturdays. Customers come to him for weddings and things where a very quick turnaround is necessary. Ken's calm and friendly way with people, his confidence and experience, his dependability and quality workmanship are the keys to his success, the fact that he loves what he is doing guarantees his security and happiness. §
