Message from the Communications Committee
by by Penny Picton
Ana and I have had a great summer! It’s been fun working around vacations during the month of August trying to get this newsletter together and arrange for advertisers to fund it.Jeanette Cronkwright and Karen Nothers were a terrific addition to the newsletter committee, as the advertising committee. They have been calling you to follow-up the faxed notice of advertising rates for this newsletter. This was not an easy feat in August. Thank you Jeanette and Karen.
This newsletter is a quarterly publication, a great opportunity for everyone to pass on their message to the membership, the businesses in the immediate area and prospective members. All advertising is an investment in your business future. Think of each ad as a deposit to your business bank account which will pay you interest.
Another opportunity to invest in your future is to participate in the HRABA Group Ad in the East Side Story which is a monthly community newspaper distributed to business and residences in the east end of London. As well as the wholesale group prices, there is a 10% discount on the regular ads.
Some businesses were missed in the Post Office unaddressed delivery for the last newsletter distribution. Our goal is to make our delivery more accurate for this issue. You should know that there will be extra copies at Crouch Resource Centre, Forest City Business, East Side Story, Ana Tirolese Design, Scotian Isle Bakery, Country Style Donuts, PJ’s Donuts, Cachet Bookstore and Green Lantern. You may have a colleague that you would like to give a newsletter. Please feel free to do so.
Ana has done a great job producing our website. If you haven’t checked out the HRABA’s web site , you really should (www.oocities.org.hraba1). You will find the latest meeting schedules on the website as well as links to the present and past issues of the newsletter. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
The next step is to link each business that has a web site. So please send us your web site address. Also, important in our chain of communications is your e-mail address.
If you are feeling uncertain about getting e-mail, take it from me it is a real bonus for communicating with your customers as well as members of HRABA. Even I have been able to learn how to do it, although there are still some areas I’m working on.
In closing we are appealing to all of you for more help for the advertising committee. This is a must with our increasing numbers so that we can raise more advertising dollars to support the cost of producing this newsletter. The Newsletter Committee also needs a person(s) to deliver the extra copies. If you could deliver to the businesses around you, please let Penny Picton know.§
