As you know last year we set our benchmark at 120 members in the first year. We’ve come close with 111 and should have the 120 by the end of January. Now that we’ve looked at where we’ve been, had some of the city people out to our meetings, we know what the issues are. One of the benefits of being a member of the HRABA is to have a voice with the city council. Our strength is in numbers for a loud voice. Our growth will come this year from each member telling others about our business association. Then we will see things evolve with the help of the city.
We need to focus on the issues of the area and then communicate them to the city. Some of those issues are:
- Clean up of the Hamilton Road streets and areas
- Beautification of the area
- Business Watch similar to the current Neighbourhood Watch
- Involvement of our membership with the 2001 Games
Most important is to accomplish some of these goals without creating more taxes.
It should be an interesting year. Our monthly meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday evening of the month. Most of the meetings will be held at the New Life Centre located at Adelaide/Little Simcoe Streets. Please bring a food donation for their food assist program. §
