A Rally to Recall the President - Monday Nov. 3rd 2003

On, November 3rd, 2003, the Illinois Federation of College Democrats asks that chapters statewide hold a rally and voter registration drive on their campus to celebrate the fact that one year from November 3rd, George W. Bush will no longer be the un-elected leader of the United States of America.

The Federation asks that chapters team up with other left leaning organizations (i.e. Student NAACP, Student ACLU, pro-choice groups, feminist groups, minority organizations, environmental groups, Students for candidate groups, Student Amnesty International, etc…) for a rally featuring speakers from each organization. Additionally, especially for chapters outside of Chicago, your county party is a good resource.

In this past, this has helped chapters build the crucial alliances that are needed during election cycles. Additionally, a prominent local or statewide Democrat as the keynote speaker would cap off the rally.

Following are several materials. First, there is a sample press release / media advisory. Modify it for your campus and alert your local press. Additionally, several flyers and leaflets for you to reproduce and distribute. To display the Word documents correctly, please paste the fonts in your c:/windows/fonts folder. If you need help customizing them for your campus, please email us with your campus name, rally location, and time. Otherwise, feel free to make your own literature.

If you need help with ideas for a speaker or contacting a speaker, please contact us and we will do what we can to help. The combined experience and contacts of the federation should be enough to find a top speaker for your campus. If you need voter registration forms, and you cannot get them from your county clerk, please also contact us.
