Personal Website
What it was: A website
When it was done: Senior Year of High School, 2001
Details: As an elective, I enrolled in a web page design class. Because of this class, I gained a immense interest in web page design. If it was not for this class and the teacher, Mr. Shen, I would not have created such a elaborate web page with so many sections. I wrote many articles on my various interests, as well as organized listings of items that I have.
Samples: The main web page is www.oocities.org/influence82. My first original web page is here.

E-Dating Website
What was it: A web programming project
When it was done: Fall 2005
Details: The professor assigned a project that involved simulating the aspects of an e-dating website. This meant that we needed to have scripts that let people register and log in, search for people based on characteristics, store and display photos. I was in a team called HAYWIR3 I was in charge of writing reports on the project and turning them in. I created a website to show my team and the professor of our progress.
Samples: HAYWIR3 Productions.

Software Engineering Project
What it was: Developing a real estate system
When it was done: Spring 2006
Details: For my software Engineering class, I had to work in a group in developing a program that had to perform specific functions relating to real estate transactions. Based on well established heuristics of software engineering, we had to design, implement, and test the whole software system.

Operating System Simulation
What it was: A program that simulated an operating system
When it was done: Spring 2006
Details: I collaborated with 2 people to work on a program that simulated parts of an operating system. I helped design the program and completed the reports used when turning it in.

Computer Network
What it was: The construction of a computer network
When it was done: Winter 2004
Details: My kung fu master and mentor, Michael Cheung, was a chairman for Chinese Confucius School in Los Angeles. The school requested setting up a computer lad connected tot he Internet. Mr. Cheung knew of me and asked me to help him set up the network. We bought he supplies and set up the computers. I configured them so that they would be connected together in the same network using Microsoft Windows. The computers could also dual boot to either the English or Chinese versions of Windows XP. Afterwards, I provided support in maintaining the infrastructure. We connected an existing DSL modem to a NetGear router and switch to connect 8 systems.

Technical writing project
What is was: A literature review, proposal, and formal report on Firewalls
When it was done: Fall 2004
Details: CS 100W is a technical writing class. I chose to write a topic on computer network security focusing on firewalls. I did research by reading research papers form scholarly journals, I created a fictitious consulting company and made mock proposal. I then performed more research and simulated a lab to test the proposal, then did a final report to explain what results may come from it. Afterwards, I made a visual presentation using PowerPoint and poster board.

Escaped Shapeshifter
What it was: A research report
When it was done: Senior year of high school, 2001
Details: My English teacher, in a college prep English class, assigned the students to do a research report on any topic they liked. I chose to write about my favorite game Magic: the Gathering. From my reading and experience with the game, I knew that it contained myths and legends from other sources. I wanted to research the connection between the game and real lore from many cultures. I found a plethora of resources. I already had a pre-conceived idea of where in general some Magic: the Gathering stories came form, so when I was doing the research, I looked for specific subjects like the afterlife, monsters, heroes.
Samples: Find the report here.

Biology Transect
What it was: An environmental study
When it was done: Spring 2003
Details: My Biology class traveled to park to do field research on the ecosystem. Our group was assigned to find a transect, or a line to study. Our group documented what was co-located in the vicinity of the transect line. We then identified and studied the structures, rocks, minerals, plants, and animals in the area. Afterwards my colleagues created a box of artifacts for the transect, called an "adopt a transect" program. it included plants, a video starring me, a map created by me, some plants, and statistics.
Samples: Original Adopt-a-Transect commercial.

Air Pollution Project
What it was: A lab report
When it was done: Spring 2003
Details: As lab assignment for my Environmental Biology class, we brought our vehicles to a smog test machine to measure the amount of pollutants coming from the exhaust. Using the results of some automobiles, our group compiled a report to compare them. I developed a table to and did the calculations to display.

Under Siege
What it was: A card game using a standard 52 card deck
When it was done: January 2004

I also wrote many news articles for the paper.

Alpha Phi Omega, Gamma Beta Chapter 65th Anniversary
What it was: My fraternity's great Anniversary event
When it was done: Fall 2004
Details. The Gamma Beta chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a service organization, was founded on December 6, 1939. Since the 60th Anniversary in 1999, some current members made an effort to celebrate the 65th Anniversary. Until recently, not much has been done to prepare for this event, so I accepted this assignment when I became Alumni Secretary for the Fall 2004 semester. I had previous experience working with alumni and I knew that they were essential in making this event happen. I gathered a group of dedicated people made frequent contacts with pivotal alumni and invited as many people as we could to attend the event. We initially did not get a good response, so we had to postpone the event and relocate. But later it became better with a good overall turnout. I received a large positive response and made my chapter very happy and honored me with a GB of the month award. I also produced and directed a DVD video commemorating the event.
Samples: Desk of the Alumni Secretary contains all planning of the 65th Anniversary. You may find report and photos on the 65th Anniversary here. The Commemorative video I edited can be found here.

Alpha Phi Omega, Gamma Beta Chapter Reunion
What it was: A historical fraternity reunion
When it was done: Spring 2005
Details: The 65th Anniversary was a precursor to the Reunion. Much of the contact information collected from the Anniversary was used to send invitations to the Reunion. Once the Reunion committee had a group of alumni, they were set to make this once in a lifetime event. My role was to act as a liaison between the alumni and active (student) members of the chapter. I made many presentations and studied my group to report to the committee. I also did some extra work like video taping and computer work. I help update contact information, meaning I made many more phone calls to remind people. At meetings I contributed ideas, many which I fully completed with the faith of the committee. The goals of the reunion was to bring all the fraternity's brothers past and present together where they can celebrate the common vision that is Alpha Phi Omega. I also produced and directed a DVD recording the events that took place there.
Samples: Reunion report, DVD Trailer.
