Burkett's Hollywood Museum Provides Numerous Delightful Movie Memories

 Burkett's Hollywood Museum, a unique attraction that provides a delightful interlude packed with memories, opened in September at the corner of Hwy 76 and Hwy 165.

The museum features thousands of authentic costumes and props from your favorite movies and movie stars. Open seven days a week, the museum offers visitors of all ages a chance to get their picture taken with their favorite memorabilia.

Included in the exhibit are the Dukes of Hazzard car, Sanford and Sons pickup, Liberace's Grand Piano along with costumes and personal items from Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Jayne Mansfield and many more.

Silver Dollar City Will Feature Spectacular New Ride in 2001

 Silver Dollar City has announced the addition of "Wildfire," a spectacular new ride for the 2001 season. The ride will have five inversions, a cobra roll and its top speed will be 66 miles per hour. It will be the largest ride Silver Dollar City has ever built. Maximum G-force on the ride will be 3.5 which is thrilling but below levels which are causing safety concerns within the industry.

Folks waiting in line will be entertained with a tour of the workshop of the ride's fictional inventor, Doc Horatio Harris. Guests will see other of Doc's inventions, many of which did not work.

Branson USA Amusement Park Adds Pipeline Plunge and Convention Center & Theatre

  Branson USA, located where the old Mutton Hollow Craft Village was, has announced a new ride and the addition of a Convention Center and Theater for 2001. The theater will feature the Magificent 7 Show.

The all-new Pipleline Plunge ride joins the following new rides in 2000: Fire Ball, Free Fall, Fall Creek Plunge (see picture below), The Yo Yo, the Zyklon Family Roller Coaster, Tea Cup, and Big Truck among others.

Rides range from tame (for the littlest visitors) with the Peter Paul Dragon, Motorcycle Jump, Airplane Ride, Mini Enterprise, antique Car Ride and of course, The Carousel; to the daring for those seeking adventure who'll find it on the six story high Windstorm roller coaster, The Tarantula, Flying Bob, The Scrambler, The Pirate Ship, Tilt-A-Whirl, Super Round Up, and The Paratrooper

Also featured is Road Rage, a multi-story speedway and Rapid River, an 18-hole mini-golf course along with a ten story high Ferris Wheel, Flying Dragon Wagon and Grand Prix bumper car track.

Ripley's Getting the Boot

 Ripley's Believe It or Not in Branson has acquired boots worn by legendary entertainers. The museum recently secured a pair of autographed leather boots with an intricate gold design that belonged to Roy Rogers. Ripley's also acquired boots worn by 19th Century Barnum & Bailey stars Tom Thumb and Midget Mary. Other acquisitions included an initialed cane from James Cagney and a leather jacket worn by martial arts star Brandon Lee in the movie, "The Crow."

Veterans Memorial Museum Now Open in Branson Location

 Featuring 12,000 square feet of exhibits progressing through five wars fought in the 20th Century, the Veterans Memorial Museum is now open in Branson.

A full size P-51 Mustang fighter serves to landmark this unique national tribute to our veterans at 1250 West Highway 76.

Over 50 life-size bronze sculptures, hundreds of exhibits and murals honor all branches of the military services, campaigns, major battle-fields, industrial defense and the enduring support of the American people.

The walls of each hall have the names of the men and women who gave their lives to defend our freedoms.

Gladiator Now Showing at IMAX Complex

 "Gladiator" featuring Russel Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix is showing nightly at the IMAX Theatre at 8 PM.

Also, IMAX is making a new film about country music and the as-yet untitled project will feature some of country music's favorite stars in the film. The film is scheduled to premiere next June in Nashville and then go on the IMAX theatre circuit.

Branson's Hollywood Wax Museum Adds Oprah Winfrey Life-Sized Wax Figure

 Television star, Oprah Winfrey is the newest addition to the Hollywood Wax Museum's 170 plus life-sized wax figures.

Darth Maul, one of the most recognized characters from the movie, "Star Wars," is also now at home at The Hollywood Wax Museum. His creepy looks and sinister ways have made him one of the most seen movie villains. He joins wax likenesses of Mark McGwire, Leonard DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as well as a great many others.

Lost Treasure Miniature Golf Course Now Open at West Hwy 76 Location

  Another miniature golf location has been added to the West Highway 76 mix. The Lost Treasure Golf Course has opened right next to Ridge Runners. (See picture below).

Branson/Springfield Gray Line Offers Historic Sightseeing Tours

 Branson Gray Line offers an historic sightseeing tour with some new additions for the 2001 season. "A Slice of the Ozarks" is a three-hour narrated historical sightseeing tour that covers a 52-mile route.

The tour includes Country Music Boulevard, downtown Branson, Hollister, The College of the Ozarks, the scenic overlook, the Table Rock Dam Complex, and Shepherd of the Hills.

Beginning November 1, Branson Gray Line will begin running the Festival of Lights Tour. This two hour and thirty minute tour includes both the Branson Area Festival of Lights display as well as the Shepherd of the Hills Trail of Lights.

Butterfly Place Adds Greater Variety to the Branson Scene!

 The Butterfly Place, adjacent to the Welk Resort Center, is one of Branson's newest and most unique attractions. The attraction offers the largest live butterfly aviary in the United States. The location has over 6,000 flowering plants and 1,500-2,000 butterflies, representing 40-50 species. The species change constantly as new ones are brought in from around the world.  

 Gotcha! Lazer Tag Opens Doors For Third Season

 Gotcha! Lazer Tag offers high tech fun just off Hwy 76 in the building that once housed 50's at the Hop before it moved to the Branson Mall. The object of the game is to enter the alien craft and using your lazer weapon ward off an invasion. Frequent players may have an opportunity to play on a national level in the National Lazer Tag Tournament.
