“His potential is that of a fully drawn crossbow; his timing, the release of the trigger.”   - Sun Tzu

Heady Punch

This part, the punch line, should be well rehearsed and memorized verbatim. There should be no hesitation – it must be perfect, a bomb explosion.

When I began using stories in illustrating my speeches, I flopped a few times because I had to restate the punch line. Punch line can make or unmake the story. Believe me. I failed before.

To make story’s ending effective, memorize your punch line, word for word, and know definitely what audience’s reaction you want. These should be the pillars of your story; they should shape the way you narrate the story.

One common mistake of neophytes is improper timing. They deliver the punch line too early. Being too early with the punch line is fatal to the story.  So build up the punch line properly. And deliver it at the right time.
