An Autumn AfternoonThe leaves have started to change colour and to fall to the ground. A chill is in the air. As I breathe, the vapour from your breath is visible. The chill both suppresses and energizes. Walking down a short block of a downtown street, I can see the harbour from where I stand. The trees, leaves, and apartments frame the harbour like a picture. The bright reds and yellows contrast with the white light bouncing off the dark blue water. The green of the mountains stands in the far background For a few brief seconds, a seaplane flies into the picture. It's making a landing in Coal Harbour. A daily flight to and from Victoria. It breaks the stillness of the picture and reminds me of the motion of life. The plane enters from the left and quickly exits to the right. I round the corner and keep on walking to my destination. |
