20/12/05:
From Magüi Serna's web I want to wish a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR
2006 to Magüi, to all Magüi's fans, and in general, to all the people that
visit this site.
13/12/05:
This weekend the Spanish Masters took place in Zaragoza, in which Magüi was
unable to take part. Although she wasn't playing, some of her fans remembered her and put
up a support banner
for her. So from here I want to thank them for this nice gesture ;).
05/12/05:
Magüi tries with paddle!. A couple of weeks ago Magüi won together with Carlos
Calle the I Open de Pádel Aguas de Firgas in the mixed category. They defeated
Vanessa Rivero/Diego Borrego in the final by a close 4/6, 6/4 y 6/3. Here you
can see a picture of the event ;).

02/11/05:
Magüi has trained again after six months. Here
you can read a short report on her comeback.
20/10/05:
Magüi's season finished unfortunately a long time ago, in April, due to an
innapropiate injury, so this has been without any doubt the hardest year in
Magüi's career, with a big fall in both the singles and doubles ranking, not
being able to try to defend the points that she got the previous year. Let's see if as
the time goes by this injury is history, Magüi recovers well and can try to go
back little by little to the elite of the world tennis, where she was last year
when she started to have problems with the injuries, dreaded situation for any
sportsperson. Next season I'll continue updating the site, I hope that more
often than this year because there are more things to say, although I am going
to be very busy and won't have much spare time, but I'll do anything I can to inform
about the tournaments and results. As usual, anything that you want to suggest
or any information that you would like to give me will be welcomed.
20/09/05:
Magüi is recovering little by little from her injury and she won't play the
rest of the season, so we'll have to wait till next season to see her play.
She'll start training again soon. Thanks to all the fans that have had
interested in knowing about Magüi's injury in the last months, Magüi
appreciates this interest, let's hope that next season Magüi is 100% and can recover her level little by
little. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
07/09/05:
Magüi will be today in the Procession-Offering in honour to 'Nuestra Señora
del Pino', in Teror, Gran Canaria.
"The institutional cart in which the Government of Gran Canaria will take part with this Wednesday, 7th of September, in the traditional Procession-Offering in honour to 'Nuestra Señora del Pino', in Teror, has been made by the designer Alberto Trujillo. "Todos para el Pino" is the name of this cart, which will parade in second place, behind the one of Teror, the host town. In the wooden cart present will be the popular singer Mary Sánchez and sportswoman Magüi Serna. A Canarian balcony is the central motif of the design realised by Trujillo, who has been in charge of the institutional cart in the last four years".
05/09/05:
There are no news yet on when Magüi will come back to the circuit, but it seems
sure that she won't play the next two weeks either. As soon as I know something
about Magüi's comeback, I'll put it in here. Let's hope that Magüi recovers
little by little of a worse injury than expected in principle and we can see her
soon on the courts. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
22/07/05:
The next two weeks I'll be away on holidays, so I won't be able to update the
site during this time, Anyway, due to Magüi's injury there has not been much news in
these months, but if there is any, I'll update the site as soon as I am back.
Have a nice summer everyone!!.
20/07/05:
Today it's the fifth anniversary of this site :). Unfortunately it's in a bad
moment for Magüi, who hasn't played for some months due to injury. From here I
want to thank everyone that has contributed in any way to the existence of this
site: to Magüi for being the 'star' of this site, to her family for visiting
this site once in a while, to all the people that have sent me stuff or
suggestions for the site, to all the people that have visited this site and I hope
will visit once again and, in general, to all Magüi's fans. This site not
only has allowed me to follow Magüi's results in the different tournaments, but
has also allowed me to be in touch with wonderful people from around the world
that I consider very good friends now :). I hope that Magüi gets rid of those
physical problems as soon as possible and that her tennis career is long, I'll
try, if possible, to continue with the site during all her career. Thanks to
everyone and GOOD LUCK MAGÜI!!.
14/07/05:
Magüi's recovery is much slower than initially expected, so her comeback is not
expected at least till after summer. It's a shame that Magüi
hasn't played much this season, it's by far the season when she has played the
least since she turned professional, but the important thing is that she recovers
100%. From here I want to wish her a quick and good recovery, many people are
looking forward to her comeback. ¡¡VAMOS!! .
11/07/05:
A shame, the Spanish Fed Cup team couldn't defeat France in the semifinals of
this competition. Let's hope that next season they are luckier, and let's also
hope that Magüi can enter the team again in the near future ;)
24/06/05:
For the moment I don't have news on when it's scheduled that Magüi is back, I
think that she'll be back soon, but as soon as I know something, I'll let you
know here.
11/06/05:
A shame that Magüi hasn't played for so long, because her ranking is dropping
week after week. With her absence in Wimbledon, where she had quite a lot points
to defend, it's sure that she'll leave the top 200 and her ranking will probably
be close to the top 250, according to my calculus. Her doubles ranking is going
to fall a lot because she can't defend the doubles title she won last year in
Eastbourne with the Australian Alicia Molik. But the important thing is that
Magüi recovers and when she comes back she is well physically. This way the
results will come for sure and she'll improve her ranking a lot. ¡¡VAMOS
MAGÜI!! :):)
02/06/05:
As I advanced a while ago, Magüi's withdrawal for Wimbledon is
confirmed. On the official site of the tournament the entry list appears and
Magüi appears in the list of players that WON'T take part in the tournament,
due to her shoulder injury. I hope that Magüi's recovery advances as fast as
possible and that we can see her soon on the courts again, it's a shame that she
is missing so many tournaments in the last couple of years. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.
30/05/05:
I have just learnt that today is the day of the Canary Islands ;). So...HAPPY
DAY OF THE CANARY ISLANDS
to Magüi and to all the Canarians that visit this site :).
21/05/05:
Magüi took part yesterday in the Race against Drugs in Gáldar (Gran Canaria),
accompanying 600 children, and read the manifesto against Drugs. I have found a
picture of the event ;).

17/05/05:
As I advanced last week, Magüi's withdrawal for Roland Garros is confirmed.
Today the qualifying draw has been released and Magüi isn't in it. Let's hope
that the other Spanish players have a good performance in this Grand Slam and
that Magüi recovers as soon as possible.
10/05/05:
BAD NEWS :(:(. Magüi's recovery doesn't go as fast as expected, so it's
almost sure that she'll miss for the first time in her career Roland Garros and
Wimbledon. What a shame, bad luck. Let's hope that Magüi isn't too down, the
most important thing is having a perfect recovery. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.
02/05/05:
Sorry for the lack of news the last weeks, but this is this way because Magüi
is injured and isn't playing any tournament. As soon as I know when Magüi is
back I'll put it here. From here I wish Magüi a fast recovery. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
25/04/05:
Spain has reached the Fed Cup semifinals after defeating Argentina in the
quarterfinals in an exciting tie by 3-2, and also secures the permanence in the
world group next year. In July Spain will play France in semifinals. Congrats
girls!!.
19/04/05:
Bad news. Magüi has again an injury in her left shoulder, so she won't play the
tournament in Estoril and will
be out of the circuit in principle between 3 and 4 weeks. It seems that the bad
luck pursues Magüi :(:(. I hope that her recovery goes as expected and that she
can return the high level as soon as possible. ¡¡ÁNIMO MAGÜI!!.
11/04/05:
Today's ranking determines which players enter directly the main draw at Roland Garros, and unfortunately
Magüi isn't top 108, which is the cut-off for the main draw, so in principle she must play the qualifying
at Roland Garros, I think for the first time in her career. Let's hope that by then Magüi finds her best game
little by little.
08/04/05:
Next Magüi's tournament will be in principle in Estoril
(Portugal) the week of the 25th of April. Sure that this tournament will bring great memories to Magüi,
as her first WTA singles title was there, and besides, she has won this tournament twice in a row. Unfortunately last year
se couldn't try to defend it due to an injury, but sure she'll come back this year looking forward to doing great again
and to find her best game again in order to improve a lot in the ranking, which doesn't correspond at all with her
real quality. Although, if nothing avoids it (many withdrawals, receiving a wild card), Magüi will start this tournament from the qualifying.
¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.
06/04/05:
Bad news. Magüi has lost to Sabine Klaschka in the first round in Dinan
by 7-6 (7-4) and 6-3, so the tournament is already over for her. Although I am not completely sure, I am afraid that this unexpected defeat might make
that Magüi must play the qualifying in Roland Garros.
05/04/05:
Magüi will play tomorrow the German Sabine Klaschka in the first round in Dinan.
It's the fourth match on Centre Court (Court Roland Garros), the first match starts at 10 h. GOOD LUCK!!.
05/04/05:
Bad luck, things haven't started well for Magüi in Dinan.
Magüi and Nagyova have lost to Krajicek/Szavay by 6-1 and 6-4. Let's hope that things go better tomorrow in singles.
04/04/05:
Magüi is the seed number 5 of the tournament in Dinan
and she plays on Wednesday the German qualifier Sabine Klaschka. In doubles,
Magüi and Nagyova are the seeds number 2, and they'll play tomorrow the qualifiers Krajicek/Szavay. Let's hope that they do well.
01/04/05:
Magüi will be seeded in Dinan.
The tournament is on clay, but indoors. The main draw starts on Tuesday. Let's hope that Magüi has a good draw and can
do well.
30/03/05:
The clay season is about to start for Magüi. For the moment the only confirmed
tournaments are an ITF tournament in Dinan
(France) the week of 4th of April, and the tournament in Estoril
(Portugal) the week of 25th of April, in which Magüi has been the champion the
two last years she has played it. Let's hope that this year she can do well.
26/03/05:
Bad news, Magüi and Gagliardi lost to Lee/Talaja by 6-3 and 7-5, so the tournament in Miami is over for Magüi. Now Magüi will travel to Europe to play some small tournaments on clay, the first one an ITF tournament in
Dinan, France, the week of 4th of April. Let's hope that she does well.
23/03/05:
Bad news :(. Magüi has lost to Marissa Irvin in a close match by 6-3 and 7-5.
Anyway, let's see if the fact of having won two matches in this tournament
cheers Magüi up and from now on the good results come back. Let's hope that she
can go far in doubles, she won't play till Friday. ¡¡VAMOS!!
23/03/05:
Magüi will finally play the American Marissa Irvin in the first round. The
match will be today, in the third turn of Court 7 (the first match on that court
starts at 10 h, local time). Let's hope that she is lucky. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
22/03/05: Magüi
will play doubles with the Swiss Emmanuelle Gagliardi and they'll play Lee/Talaja
in the first round. Let's hope that they do well in doubles.
22/03/05:
Great!. Magüi has defeated Stephanie Cohen-Aloro, seed number 6 of the
qualifying, by 6-4 and 6-3, so she has qualified for the main draw. We'll know
later her rival in the first round. Let's hope that she is lucky.
21/03/05:
Good news!. Magüi has defeated Tzipora Obziler, seed number 24 of the
qualifying, by 7-5 and 6-4. CONGRATS!!. She'll play tomorrow in the second round
the Frenchwoman Stephanie Cohen-Aloro, seed number 6 of the qualifying, from 10
h, local time, on Court 7. Good
luck!!.
21/03/05:
The
Miami qualifying's
draw has already been released. Magüi will play today the Israeli Tzipora Obziler, seed number
24, in the first round from 10 h on Court 8.
Let's hope that she is lucky. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
07/03/05:
Magüi won't finally play the tournament in Indian Wells,
as it was scheduled, but she'll play next in
Miami, which will be
played the week of 21st March. Good luck!!. The time difference between Miami and Spain is
-6 hours.
07/03/05:
The qualifying draw in Indian
Wells has already been released and Magüi isn't in it. I don't know whether
she has finally avoided the qualifying draw and has entered the main draw or
what has happened. As soon as I know something I'll let you know here.
03/03/05:
After a couple of weeks, Magüi comes back to the competition in Indian Wells
to play the qualifying from next Monday. Let's hope that she's lucky with the
draw and can do well. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.
01/03/05:
Today is Magüi's 26th birthday. HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!!!.
Let's hope that she has great day with her family and friends. Good luck for the next tournaments!!.

24/02/05:
Next Tuesday, 1st March, it's Magüi's birthday. She will be 26 years old. You
can send her Birthday/support's wishes here.
I'm sure that she will love and appreciate it, especially now that she isn't at
her best moment. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.
23/02/05:
On the 7th March the qualifying starts for the Indian
Wells tournament, one of the most important tournaments after the Grand Slams. In
principle Magüi has to play this qualifying. In this qualifying round a player has to win two
rounds to reach the main draw, and not in three like in many tournaments. Let's
hope that Magüi can do well in ths tournament. The time difference between
Indian Wells and Spain is -9 hours.
16/02/05:
Magüi and Virginie Razzano have lost to Chladkova/Krizan by 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 and
6-1, so the tournament is over for Magüi. Next tournament for Magüi will be Indian
Wells , the week of 7th of March.
15/02/05: Magüi and Virginie Razzano will play tomorrow Wednesday
their first-round doubles match against Chladkova/Krizan. It's the third match
on the Second Court (the first match on that court starts at 13.30 h, local
time). Let's hope that they
can win. BTW, although is not completely sure and things can change in the last
moment, the next scheduled tournaments for Magüi are
Indian Wells (week
of 7th of March) and
Miami (week of 21st of March), both on hard courts. Let's hope that
Magüi is luckier in the next weeks and things start to go better. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
13/02/05:
A shame, things didn't go well for Magüi in
Antwerp. She
lost yesterday in the first round to Dally
Randriantefy by 6-4 and 6-2. Here
a pic of this match. In doubles she'll play this week with the Frenchwoman
Virginie Razzano and they'll play on Tuesday Chladkova/Krizan in the first round.
Let's hope that things go better.
11/02/05:
The qualifying draw in
Antwerp has
already been released. Magüi will play tomorrow the player from Madagascar Dally
Randriantefy, seed number 2, in the first round in the second match on Centre Court (the first
one starts at 10 h). Let's hope
that she does well and can reach the main draw. BTW, I don't think I can update
this site during the weekend, so I won't probably update Magüi's results till
Sunday evening. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
04/02/05:
Magüi won't finally play the tournament in Paris,
as it was scheduled, because she can't arrive on time from Thailand to play
tomorrow. So her next tournament will be in
Antwerp (Belgium),
the qualifying starts on Saturday 12th of February. Let's hope that she is lucky.
04/02/05:
A shame, it hasn't been possible. Magüi has lost to Vivi Ruano by 6-2 and 6-1.
Anyway, this has been a good tournament for Magüi. Let's hope that these two
wins have given her some confidence in her game. ¡¡VAMOS!!. Next scheduled
tournament for Magüi is the qualifying in Paris,
which starts tomorrow, but unless they let her start on Monday instead of
tomorrow, I don't think she'll arrive on time to play.
03/02/05:
Magüi will finally play the Spaniard Vivi Ruano,
seed number 8, tomorrow in the quarterfinals,
which secures the presence of a Spanish player in the semifinals, I hope that
Magüi ;).
Magüi hadn't reached the quarterfinals of a WTA tournament from May of last
year. The match will be tomorrow Friday. It's the second match on Court 2, the
first one starts at 15 h, local time. BTW, although they don't update it often,
some partial scores of the matches can be followed here.
Let's hope that Magüi can win. GOOD LUCK MAGÜI!!.
02/02/05:
Magüi in the quarterfinals! :):). Magüi has defeated Bartoli by 6-4 in the
first set and the French retired after this, so she qualifies for the
quarterfinals of the tournament. She'll play on Friday the winner of the match
between Virginia Ruano and Marlene Weingartner. Here
a couple of pics
of this match. Congratulations! :). However, later things didn't go that well in
doubles and Magüi and Tammy have lost to Domachowska/Talaja by 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3.
01/02/05:
Magüi and Tamarine have defeated Czink/Obiler by 6-2 and 6-1. Tomorrow it's a
busy day for Magüi; first she'll play Bartoli in singles from 15 h, local time,
and later, in the third turn of that court, Court 1, Magüi and Tamarine will
play Domachowska/Talaja. GOOD LUCK!!.
31/01/05:
First win of the season for Magüi! :):).
Magüi has defeated Melinda Czink in the first round in Pattaya
City by 7-5 and 7-5. In the second round she'll play on Wednesday the seed number 2, the
French Marion Bartoli. Tomorrow she'll play the first round in doubles in the
last turn of Court 1. Added a
photo
of Magüi in Pattaya.
30/01/05:
Magüi will play tomorrow Melinda Czink in the first round in Pattaya
City on Court 2 from 15 h, local time. It won't be an easy match, because the Hungarian has already
reached a WTA final this year, but let's hope that Magüi has a good day and can
win. ¡¡VAMOS!!. In doubles, Magüi plays this week with the Thai Tamarine
Tanasugarn, they are the seeds number 1 of the tournament and will play Czink/Obziler
in the first round.
29/01/05:
The Pattaya City's
main draw has already been released. Magüi will play in the first round
the Hungarian Melinda Czink.
Let's hope that she can get her first win of the season. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!! :):)
25/01/05:
Magüi will be finally in the main draw in Pattaya
City (Thailand), which starts next Monday 31st of January. The time
difference between Pattaya and Spain is +6 hours. Let's hope that Magüi is
lucky with the draw and can get her first win of the season, which would surely
bring her some confidence. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!! :):)
19/01/05:
A shame, also bad luck in doubles :(. Magüi and Arancha Parra have lost to
Dekmeijere/Miyagi in a close match by 4-6, 7-5 and 6-3, so the tournament is now
over for Magüi, as she doesn't play the mixed doubles. Next tournament for
Magüi will be, in principle, Pattaya
City, the week of the 31st of January. Let's see if things go better in the next weeks.
18/01/05:
Magüi and Arancha Parra will play tonight Spanish time against Dekmeijere/Miyagi.
It's the first match on Court 8, from 11 h, local time. Let's hope that Magüi
and Arancha can do a good tournament. Let's hope that Magüi can recover the
moral and her game in the next weeks. COME ON!!.
17/01/05:
A shame, it wasn't possible :(. Bad season start for Magüi, who has lost to Maleeva
by a clear 6-1 and 6-1. Let's hope that things go better in doubles. Here
Magüi's words after her match and a
photo.
16/01/05:
The Australian Open's doubles draw has already been released. Magüi and Arancha Parra will play Dekmeijere/Miyagi in the first round. Let's hope that they can do a good tournament.
15/01/05:
Magüi will play on Monday against Maleeva in the first round at the Australian Open. It's the second match on Court 13, after a men's match. The first match on that court starts at 11 h, local time. The time difference between Melbourne and Spain is +10 hours. Let's hope that Magüi can win this match, although it'll be difficult!!. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
14/01/05:
The Australian Open's draw has already been released. Magüi will play the
Bulgarian Maggie Maleeva, seed number 22, in the first round. A tough rival to
start the season, but Magüi has already defeated her in her career. Let's see if
Magüi is lucky in her first tournament of the year. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
This is Magüi's section of the draw:
Maleeva (22) vs Serna
Ruano Pascual vs Jidkova
Llagostera Vives vs WC-Ferguson
Razzano vs Petrova (11)
11/01/05:
Magüi will play the doubles at the
Australian Open with the Spaniard Arancha Parra. Let's hope that they have a
nice draw, are lucky and go far.
10/01/05:
Next Friday, the draw for the Australian
Open will be done. As soon as I know Magüi's rival in the first round I'll put it here.
It's very probable that Magüi's rival is better ranked than her, but hopefully
Magüi's draw will be good and she'll be able to do well.
07/01/05:
These are, if there aren't late changes, the first tournaments of the season
for Magüi. She will start the season playing the Australian
Open, first Grand Slam of the year, which will start on the 17th of January.
Later she'll travel to Thailand to play the tournament in Pattaya
City, the week of the 31st of January, and later she'll travel to Paris to
play the tournament Open Gaz
de France, the week of the 7th of February, this last tournament indoors,
the first two ones on hard court outdoors.
07/01/05:
There has been plan changes and finally Magüi won't start the season till the Australian
Open, first Grand Slam of the year, which will start on the 17th of January.
Let's hope that Magüi has charged batteries during these months and has a
good year start. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
06/01/05:
It seemed that Magüi's season was going to start in the qualifying in Canberra,
but this isn't this way, as Magüi isn't in the qualifying draw, so apparently
she has been able to enter the main draw in Hobart,
which will start next Sunday. GOOD LUCK!!.
03/01/05:
Magüi's season is about to start, probably in the qualifying of the tournament
in Canberra
(yet to be confirmed), which will start next Friday 7th of January. The time
difference between Canberra and Spain is +10 hours. Let's hope
that she is much luckier this year. ¡¡VAMOS MAGÜI!!.
20/12/04:
From Magüi Serna's web we want to wish a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR
2005 to Magüi, to all Magüi's fans, and in general, to all the people that
visit this site.
19/12/04:
It seems that Magüi's pre-season is going quite well. You can read a short report
about this here.
03/12/04:
Magüi will start the season in Canberra
(Australia) or Hobart
(Australia). It has to be confirmed yet. The main draw of these tournaments will start on the 10th
January, but in principle it
seems that Magüi will have to play the qualifying, and will be one of the seeds.
Later she'll play the Australian
Open, first Grand Slam of the year, and Magüi won't finally have to play
the qualifying according to the rankings that will be published next Monday. Let's hope that she has a good start of
year. ¡¡VAMOS!!.
29/11/04:
As soon as I know something about Magüi's schedule for next season, I'll put it
here. It's a shame, but the WTA makes things each time harder for the fans to
get the commitments lists for the tournaments. Earlier, there was
always a group of fans that asked the WTA for these lists and put these lists on
a forum on the Internet, so that the rest of fans could check the lists. Now
these lists are only available for the players, the coaches and the agents, so
the rest of us don't have access to them, so I'm afraid that next season it'll
be tough to know the tournaments in advance. Anyway, I'll try to do my best ;).
