COSTUME CONTEST A delegate may only enter one of the 5 costume categories: • Costume (girl): Aurora • Costume (boy): Bacchus • Costume (couple): Juno & Argus • Classical Costume (boy or girl): any real person who might have been a Roman or Greek person during the Classical period. • Costume of the Empire (boy or girl): any real person who might have lived somewhere in the Roman Empire. • "Real person" means any character who might have actually lived. Therefore this does not include deities, heroes, mythological characters, etc. Of course, it may include priests or priestesses or devotees to deities. Each contestant will be expected to make a brief statement about the costume and how it relates to the character (including the color, style, props, etc.). Each participant must must make his/her own costume. Contestant should realize that 90% of the score will be on the actual costume. Make-up, hairdo's, and oral presentations are only worth 10%. Oral presentations should be under 2 minutes in length. Story-telling is to be discouraged. the cost of the costume must not exceed $35 per person. The value of all items, including borrowed items, shoes, jewelry must be included in the $35 limit. Each participant must submit all sales receipts for materials in a clearly marked envelope given to the judges. If the contestant wants the receipts returned, he/she must ask for them upon finishing the presentation. |
