PRE-CONVENTION CONTESTS

• Website Contest: All member schools are encouraged to create web pages for their club. The webmasters and their advisors must send in the Web page registration form by May 1, verifying that the site is completely created by the student club members. The form must be sent to Technical Coordinator Amanda Luong. Rules for Website Contest

• Publicity Contest: Schools are encouraged to send publicity materials to 1st VP Sarah Concannon,

These materials will possibly be used in the state scrapbook. Examples of entries can include photos of your club, newspaper articles, or other items that show your club's outreach to non-JCLers. All schools that send in an item usable for the state scrapbook will be awarded 5 participation points if they are received by April 15. (Entries for the state scrapbook can be received after this date but will not earn points.) Additional points will be awarded to the schools sending in the most amount of publicity.
• Creative Writing: All entries must have a Classical theme. Students must send a copy of their work because it will not be returned. There are 4 categories:

• Prose/fiction
• Prose/non-fiction
• Poetry
• original Latin

There is a 600 word limit in the English categories and a 60 word limit in the Latin category. Entries must be clearly labeled as to category, school, student's name, grade, and level of Latin. All entries must be typed. Entries must be postmarked or delivered by May 1 to Dr. Gonnerman at Brookline High School.

• Audio-Visual Contest: Only audio-visual materials fully developed by students may be entered in this contest. The theme of the entries may be Roman history or culture, mythology, relevance to and promotion of Latin, Greek, JCL, or the convention theme for the year. The maximum length is 12 minutes. Proper credit must be given to prerecorded music and other media employed. Entries should be labeled with the name of the school. However, no students' names or school names may appear in the video or audio itself. Entries must be postmarked by May 1st and sent to Ms. Marjorie Keeley at Mount Greylock Regional Schools.
