The plants grow from eight inches to about two feet. They enjoy rich well drained soil and a location in partial shade. It is best to plant them early in the season since they don't take really hot weather well. They do tolerate light frost and are perennial in warm climates.

 Plant snapdragons at the front of the bed to show off their vivid colors. They can be grown from seeds if you start them early, and the plants are commonly available in the spring. Pinch out the central bud to make a bushier, fuller plant.

  The plants can be purchased in six packs in the spring. Snapdragons make fine cut flowers.
