The Bovaglie Manuscript also indicates a direct relationship to Donald Gordon of Bovaglie and James Gordon of Finnylost, Strathdon. Peter has found that John Gordon of Crovie was accurate in his work, so it may well be that Jean McGregor's father was named Alexander McGregor and not Donald McGregor as the 1866 McHardy Family Tree suggests. However, it should be pointed out that another Gordon manuscript passed on by Peter, "Gordons in Upper Deeside," by Donald Whyte, F.H.G., also states that Margaret married a Donald McGregor. This second manuscript takes the McHardy connection back a further two generations by stating that James Gordon, a shoemaker at Clachenturn (4th generation in the Bovaglie Manuscript) was married to an Elspeth McHardy. Furthermore, it also shows that Margaret Bowman, daughter to John Bowman and Margaret McHardy, married John Gordon, gamekeeper at Linn of Muick, who was also great grandson to Donald Gordon in Tournan, 5th generation in the Bovaglie Manuscript. |
