Tenchi decides to try the "Dark disturbing weird gory Kamishibai" thing, with his usual method of "Non-stop ass-kicking cool-animation action... And by the way, there was a plot point in that last long text block. Sorry.". Seriously, this story shows some potential, but as many Dark Kami Stories, it just tells you too much. We know what Deanna's situation was, what happened to her and whose fault it was. And what we know can't scare us. Advice for Tenchi and all aspiring dark story authors: It's things unknown and unsaid which are most frightening (see E.A. Poe's short story "The Pit and the Pendulum" for a good example).

I love comedy. I love good art. I love action. And I just got all of that in huge quantities. Plus a bunch of very likeable characters (oh, and Jason, too) and an amazing Anime feel. Big thumbs up for the Demon Slayers! |

So we have another magical girl story... but this time, it's a parody. The first chapter pokes fun at all the things normally found in first chapters of magical girl stories - we have the late-for-school heroine, the cute animal companion, the very very evil being, the monster of the day, the transformation and fight scene. All done with edited KiSS art and pretty juvenile humor. Mildly amusing at best. |

Fanfic Review
Let's set aside for a moment the total lack of explanation for how Vegeta got into the Tenchiverse (and how he's going to get back, for that matter). I can buy the fact that he bumped into Ryoko and they quarreled. Okay, so he might be powerful enough to kill her. Fine.
But then Tenchi shows up for no apparent reason and also gets killed - no, that just doesn't work. Tenchi may not throw chi blasts around on a daily baisis, but he's pretty powerful. Kagato was no weakling, and Tenchi defeated him using his own power and nothing else.
After getting rid of Tenchi, what does our hero do? He decides to kill off the rest of the cast. How did he even know they existed? And why did it take a single attack to kill off:
Aeka, crown princess of Jurai, who can stand up to the space pirate Ryoko,
Sasami, also a princess of Jurai, who has assimilated with Tsunami, the eldest and most powerful of the Space Trees,
Washuu, the Greatest Scientific Genius in the Universe, Tsunami's "sister", who can wave off Ryoko's monster with a finger,
and Mihoshi, who once defeated a Galaxy Destroyer with nothing but her blind luck?
So, to round it up: this story is a pointless anti-fic with cheezy dialogue, a stupid plot contrivance, and total ignorance of character power levels. |

The team is very well-chosen. Not only are the writer and artist really good at their jobs, they are also boy and girl, which leaves room for a lot of funny insinuations back on the Message Board. ^_^ |
